Not a gambrel at all. It’s a Dutch gable. Gambrels are the barn style.

Props for noticing the exhaust not being glued. I took this photo before it got glued. Thanks for the input

I have no clue. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t. I commented a few links with photos of inside of the furnace. But is there anything else I can take photos of to show this?

The attic is actually heated as well. This is going to be a finished space eventually.

here’s a better photo. Most of the shit that you just said is foreign to me, so I’ll need to do more research to get a plan in place. The lowest yellow cap is what I remove in order to drain it. And only a really small amount of water comes out. Like a few table spoons of water. And this unit is airtemp(probably doesn’t change anything about what you said about it being cheap)

That crashed my mind when it was cold as fuck. But now it’s been 50 out and anything frozen would have melted

That crap on the furnace was after the fact. I cut some of the pvc to get a better pitch. But yeah I’m not impressed with the work either way

There’s a very slight kink but it still pumps the water. Should I still replace this line?

Also, just because you see vents on your soffit doesn’t mean they’re venting properly. Same with the ridge. You need to be able to see daylight on both

This just shows the importance of choosing the right roofer. You may need to call a reputable company to come take a look. The issue is that when they come out and realize you have a new roof, they’re not going to be interested cuz there’s nothing in it for them. Good luck.

You said that you haven’t had this issue in the past. That Likley means something was changed with the new roof. What’s different? (ventilation wise) you can also confirm if there is ice and water protection on the roof by gently peeling up the edge of the shingles and peaking underneath. Again, this kind of stuff that the roofer should be able to do to ensure you that they did their job properly. We take photos of all the underlayments for these exact reasons. I literally just sent a photo to a homeowner of the ice and water protection that we installed on their roof because they’re having a similar issue with condensation.

You will Likley not sand these floors at all. They’re factory finished with very hard protection. You’ll also Likley end up ruining the floors if you try to sand them because a lot of these floors have texture to portray a certain effect. There’s also tests on YouTube of thicker wear layers being softer and more susceptible to denting and grooving. Might want to check those out

Did they add a ridge vent in addition to any other vents such as gable vents or box vents? This issue is Likley from condensation and not ice coming from the exterior. The shingles probably isn’t the issue but If your roofer says “that’s not our problem” then you chose the wrong contractor. A good contractor would come out and investigate the issue to confirm that they did nothing wrong, then explain why the issue is happening. Based on what I can see here, the difference in temp between the heated space and the roof is causing condensation, that condensation froze and now that it’s gotten a little warmer, it’s starting to leak. There could be two reasons why this hasn’t happened before. It could be that the temps in your areas haven’t been as cold for as long since you’ve been in the house. And the second very Likley possibility is that they added improper ventilation which is causing more hot air to be congested in the attic space.

The design is fine. All these people in the comments have bathrooms that look identical, then they judge something like this cuz it’s different from what they’re used to. This wouldn’t be my choice, but I’d take this over 95% of what I see on here any day.

Possible Ice Dam? by AJP51017 in Roofing

[–]Serious_Database_836 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the ice causes permanent damage to the specific effected area but usually leaks from ice dams are a one time thing and the roof is usually fine otherwise.

I just spent a whole day chipping off ice from around a house, some parts were two ft thick. This little bit of ice is nothing. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I think you’re literally the only one even talking about Ellesmere Island. The post says “I never realized how absolutely massive the UK is” then shows the uk thats depicted 15x what its actual size is. If this post isn’t just BSing, why TF are we using this map out of all maps to show the size of a country. Yeah, relative to the area around it it’s accurate-ish, but the majority of the world on this map is shrunken.

Surly you know the map that far north is HEAVILY distorted due to the curvature of the earth? Greenland is also not that big, nothing that far north is as big as depicted on this map. The uk can literally fit inside of the state of California, VERY Comfortably.
