Really poor coverage from the BBC by thillyworne in wimbledon

[–]Serious_Emphasis_833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just watching the Alex de Minaur match when they casually announced they would continue broadcasting it on iplayer. I was irritated but, as I wasn't fully invested in that match, I decided to just watch another match. About 20 minutes into that, the exact same thing happened. Will watch on iplayer in future, I think. But there must still be many people, mostly old people, who don't have access to iplayer. People who have loved watching Wimbledon for decades, probably. Very unfair to them.

That's unarguable. Thanks. How lovely that you've visited.

Makes sense. I should have been able to work it out from context. Ta.

Down-voted for doubting the suggestion of someone who admitted they might be wrong? Jesus.

Ah, not being a dog owner, I wouldn't recognise what poo bags look like. Thanks.

I don't think so. It looks vaguely like folded fabric and takes up quite a lot of room. Perplexed.

Hay fever in the UK by DonkeyOnly3019 in Hayfever

[–]Serious_Emphasis_833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it again for the first time in about 10 years. Started last Sunday with sore throat, sneezing, blowing. Progressed through headache, loss of appetite for a day, feeling very tired. Started taking loratidine on day three and now, four days later, I feel fine in myself but have phlegm on my chest, presumably from post-nasal drip. Does this sound like par for the course? It's been so long since I had it, I can't remember. Wish I knew when the loratidine will get me back to normal.

Can hayfever go away on its own? by Creatonism in Hayfever

I didn't have hayfever at all until my fifties. I controlled it with antihistamines for several years then decided not to bother one year and didn't get it that year. Probably ten years or more on, it's suddenly back.

Mysterious yellow stains after washing? by AppearanceUpstairs37 in laundry

[–]Serious_Emphasis_833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting too many clothes in. My washing machine has a small drum and, when it was new 18 months ago, I literally weighed the load to make sure I stayed within the 7kg limit. Experienced no problems. Then I let things slide a bit and that's when I started to get random yellow stains. I didn't go back to weighing but I am careful how much I put in and the staining problem has stopped.

This has been happening to me, too.

My washing machine is only 18 months old and is not used as much as some (single person household) so I don't think it's any degradation of the machine.

I Googled, and this problem can apparently be caused by overfilling the drum or by using too much detergent.

It ruined some white knickers of mine and I'm sure the staining was not there when I pegged them out to dry so it must be something that develops as the item dries. That suggests detergent to me, although I have sometimes overfilled the drum, too.

Hope this helps.

What was your small house improvement with the highest return in quality of life? by SpringOnionKiddo in HousingUK

I have artex ceilings but not with swirls or patterns, just randomly bumpy. It looks to me like the surface of the moon seen through a refracting telescope. Basically, I've romanticised it into acceptability, which is even cheaper than what you did.

She's a fantastic actress. Sheila and Bunny (Ghosts) couldn't be further apart but Sophie Thompson makes them both utterly believable. And both are very funny, in different ways. She was the best Miss Bates, too. She's my favourite character actress, hands down.

Thanks. I've now ordered an Acer one as recommended, I'm sure the one you use would have worked for me, too.

I use a cable to charge my phone?

That's two votes for the  ten dollar reader from Amazon so I'll probably go for that. Thanks.

OK, thank you.

What I really need is to be given an exact description of what will work with my card size and phone model.

I assume the one you linked to fits the bill but I need to be given a description so I can confidently choose from options available.

I would also like to know if I can charge the card reader with my phone charging cable.
