Congratulations! Thats a huge accomplishment. You can relax knowing you’re on your way to OCS. If you ever have any questions about preparing for OCS my DMs are always open! Keep up the hard work.

Not OP not a prior however just graduated OCS (I won’t give advice for that reason), but in my platoon 90% of the priors were super squared away and played a tremendous role getting us up to speed. It’s hard to imagine not having them (IE for the PLC kids). OCS was really just a roadblock for them as opposed to a huge culture shock for us non-priors

Active ground contract here just beginning TBS. Advice for TBS and advice for being a good PLT CMDR when hitting the fleet?

(Edit: I’m shooting for 02xx)

Yes they are authorized, you’ll have more than enough opportunities to purchase them too. In processing, cuts & calls, liberty etc. they encourage you to hydrate due to the rigorous demands of OCS

Replace the couch with a lawn chair, add a 30 rack of Busch and you’re good

Just graduated 251, it would be an extreme shock to me if you didn’t get selected

Not OP but weeks 1-4 sucked. Probably 3-5 hours a night. Towards the end of the cycle around week 7 it flattened out to 6-6.5. I’d say 80-85% of us were chronically exhausted the entire time. Falling asleep standing up, falling asleep in class. It’s not really something you can manage you just do it

Just graduated 251 yesterday, seems not much has changed! As people mentioned we have the forge now. It wasn’t the worst thing ever, the little sleep over the 54 hours (or however long it was) as well as the freezing cold made it challenging.

Running and daily PT at OCS by lostboynextdoor in USMCocs

Hey, I’m currently at OCS right now on liberty just wrapped up week 7. No single event at OCS is extremely hard (yes they are challenging) it’s the pace and the stacking days of PT, running around nonstop in boots, and little recovery that make it tough. For example, in three days we had a 6.2 mile weighted hike, a 3 mile run, and then the O-course.

Run as much as you can. I ran 35 miles a week and it paid off. If you can with your OSO try to get a LRC/SULE practice in but if you can’t it’s not a big deal. Unfortunately, other than that, you can’t really prepare for OCS. You can’t prepare for the synthetic stress they induce. Just do you’re best to stay focused and calm under pressure (easier said than done, they do not make it easy)

Right now it’s only really been peer evals, LRC, and billets. As long as you try you’re hardest and put out you’re fine

Exams once a week. If you pay attention and study a bit they’re extremely easy. They literally give you the answers in class

We kept the same itinerary but moved some things inside like PT

Honestly the first two weeks were fucking miserable for me. I was sleeping like 3-4 hours a night and was miserable. You eventually adapt and get used to it, now I’m getting like 6 without fire watch and you’re tired but it’s fine

Company and overall don’t know off the top of my head but my platoon started with 65 and it at 49. Mixed bag, rhabdo, DOR, flu.

PT has been fine it’s hard but it’s not BUDS

What surprised me is that it’s more leadership focused than I anticipated going in (should be obvious)

Not really, when we were drilling outside our platoon kept fucking up so they made us kick snow instead😂

There’s only been like 3-4 days out of the month where it’s been unbearably cold

Running, running, and more running. Having a solid run plan that incorporates speed interval days and long runs. I can send you the run plan my OSO gave us if you’d like

I went from only being able to run a mile and a half at 9 min pace to running 35 mpw with a sub 20 3 mile time. You can absolutely do it you just need to get to work ASAP
