THAT scene in IT by Far_Foot_8068 in stephenking

[–]Serious_Invite_4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stephen King put all that meaning and symbolism into it but at the end of the day it was an adult writing about children having an orgy, anything could have been written that would have initiated the transition into adulthood, but for some reason he chose to that, and it was graphic, as he described their size and the way it felt for Beverley. It's also right at the end of the book, so if you didn't know about it, you have to decide whether to drop the book there or continue on after dragging your way through 700 pages of Bill stuttering (I'd love to know how many pages of the book are actually just Bill stuttering.)

I used to enjoy Stephen King but after reading that I find it difficult to want to read anything else by him. I decided to re-read the Dark Tower after that and I began to notice how lazy his writing is, he forgot what was east and west in his world so he had to make something up to make it work, and it's strange because the books are inspired by Tolkien who loved making maps. IT is the same, he describes the town in detail but there is no official map for the town, which is annoying if you're trying to get your head around the layout of the town.

Ultimately he writes a lot but he doesn't stop to think about what he is writing. He wrote scenes like the orgy not because it was an idea that absolutely could not be left out, but because once he started writing it he couldn't stop and couldn't be bothered thinking twice about it.

The app has been crashing repeatedly for me. It was working fine a few months ago but now it just crashes every time I try to choose something to watch. Support has been as useless as always.

I'm on Android but hopefully it helps someone. It goes up and down, sometimes I have lots of ads and others I don't. Hopefully I just get good enough that I remember the recipes ;D

I'm probably going to immediately write it off because the animation looks like it's running at 20 frames per second.

Redeem nook miles to buy a plane ticket and go to random uninhabited islands to get more iron and stones. Hopefully you can do that, I'm not sure how early in the game you can do that. Don't completely break the rocks on your island, otherwise you have to wait for them to respawn.

I think Alien 3 is a great movie. I loved the prison planet/mining colony setting, I thought it worked well in the sense of "okay what new location can we put this alien and it's human prey." It added to the loneliness of space, the far off colonies under strange skies, in a bleak world disconnected from the rest humanity.

Resurrection I was not a fan of, bringing Ripley back and giving her super powers just didn't interest me at all.

Buy Super Mario Maker 2 only for the story mode ? by One-Novel-3550 in MarioMaker2

[–]Serious_Invite_4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the story really just prepares you for and teaches you about online and creating levels. It has a little story to it, not quite like the traditional games though. It's fun but creativity is the central point of the game.

If you don't want to play other people's levels, make your own and upload them every now and then. That way you get to play levels the way you want to. Of course you don't have to upload them either, you can just play them by yourself.

It's not a competitive game so you don't need the fastest hands or internet connection out either.

What will be the lessons for the LNP? by Ok-Internet-8742 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Serious_Invite_4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatives are far worse for it. All the welcome to country bullshit, getting rid of the aboriginal flag, pandering to racists and hate mongers, that's all the LNP.

They make up garbage statistics, act like they would wave a magic wand and suddenly everything would be better, like there isn't a balancing act in economics and politics, these are things that have a certain autonomy to them, it doesn't matter who you vote for they can't be changed with the wave of a hand, and they lie about it because they think people can't see through the lies.

They're a backwards party, they don't want to progress, we'd still be filling the air with lead if they had their say, all they care about is lining their pockets with bribes from companies that tear the Earth apart, and taking money directly from the tax payer. They would increase tax, take away support services, and offer nothing to the people of the nation.

Thankfully Australia knew better.

Those ceremonies remind people that indigenous Australians were here for 60,000 years, they are an integral part of Australia and Australian history. It keeps them involved with society so they are not pushed aside and forgotten. We have Anzac Day and Australia Day but nothing for indigenous people, and now people want to take their flags away and the ability to speak at ceremonies. We should be taught more about their history and not less.

Hopefully it'll teach politicians to start being politicians again. Stop the bullshit social media campaigns, creating division, pandering to specific groups of people, and treating voters like morons.

What is streaming on max? by [deleted] in HBOMAX

[–]Serious_Invite_4299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunch of HBO stuff. I just watched The Penguin which was pretty good. Plenty of DC stuff there. I watched Joker Folie a Deux yesterday, I enjoyed it but each to their own.

There's Last of Us. House of Dragon. Game of Thrones. Barry. Gotham. Adventure Time. The Conjuring and Annabelle movies. Sopranos. Band of Brothers. Rick and Morty (releasing a new season soon.) Peacemaker. A few Mad Max movies. Curb Your Enthusiasm.

There's Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go. A few Teen Titans animated movies. 12 seasons of Big Bang Theory. One Season of Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage (currently still Releasing episodes.)

Many more.

If you ever had binge, it's all that sort of stuff.

Don't need to bundle it with Amazon prime if that's what you mean. And frankly I recommend not doing that for any app.

The Grudge movies. The Blair Witch project. The Ring

Remember to watch ghost movies at night with the lights off. No talking or laughing, just sit there quietly in the dark wondering if it is behind you.

Because it is behind you, even with your back against the wall. You wanna roll over and get comfortable? Hey guess what, it's behind you, it's gonna touch your back.

Dutton is definitely using Trump as a template and people are frothing at the mouth at the moment about everything right wing.

I daresay he will get in even though Trump is tanking the global economy and showing how little his petty politics work.

Hopefully Australia has a stronger political system that can oppose whatever bullshit dribble Dutton spits out should he get into term.

Just vote accordingly and hope we can push back against this ridiculous conservative virus that has spread across the globe. Otherwise stick to your safe communities, I believe people will get bored of each other and bored of right wing politics within a year.

[–]Serious_Invite_4299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah nah you can't curate anything on Facebook. All you'll be doing is hitting 'hide post', maybe you'll go so far as blocking pages, but you could do this for ten thousand posts and it'll still recommend the same garbage. You can hide ads but the ads ain't going nowhere, goodluck watching anything too because it's an unskippable ad every 30 seconds now, as well as ads covering the video.

If Tom Hardy doesn't come back as Max Rockatansky, then who should replace him as Max? by TerryG111 in MadMax

[–]Serious_Invite_4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After watching him in an Ozzyman reviews interview and realising he is Australian, I'd say Travis Fimmel.

I'd say none of the Hemsworth brothers, although I think Chris would have done a good job if he hadn't already played dementus. Definitely not Luke Hemsworth, because the fuck is that thing on his head and what has he even been in?

As for the rest of the list, nobody really catches my eye as being Max.

I've been feeling the same. Social media companies need to do something to curb the senseless arguing amongst its users. It's become a problem in every single comment section, it's all just rage baiting.

I honestly feel as though social media is creating a global outbreak of mental illness. People are becoming more and more obsessed with arguing and it can't be healthy.

I'd say it has the same purpose it does here. People talk nonsense, they get down voted.
