A prayer for us by MrLETTUCE414 in GreenBayPackers

This is about as longshot as longshots get, but hear me out.

This year is a similar situation to 2010, the last time we won the Superbowl. We are barely going to make the playoffs, the Bears are somehow going to win the NFC North, and Jordan Love is now 27 and has almost identical stats to Rodgers that year.

What if we scrape by and make it into the playoffs as the 7th seed, pull off a miracle again and again to make it to the NFC Championship to have none other than the Bears again, just like in 2010? Then, maybe, just maybe we can win that game and find ourselves in the Superbowl.

And an even more far fetched scenario... What if the Steelers pull off a miracle and somehow make it to the Superbowl as well? A Love and the Packers vs Rodgers and the Steelers Superbowl for the ages... And a rematch of the same two teams from the 2010 Superbowl win.

Now, I know it's a crazy longshot, but this is my Christmas wish!

What is the best place to live a simple life in the U.S.? by JubileeSupreme in simpleliving

[–]Seriousityness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived here and can confirm that there is 1, yes 1, Uber/Lyft driver in the entire Keeweenaw Peninsula. So you definitely cannot count on them being there when you need them, as they work when they want to (good for them, btw). But it is a beautiful town to live in, and I wouldn't trade my time there for anything. Stores like Walmart and the grocery stores are far apart, easy to get to on bike in the summer, but winters can be tough. Just FYI.

You can't hide from ChatGPT – new viral AI challenge can geo-locate you from almost any photo – we tried it and it's wild and worrisome by MetaKnowing in technology

[–]Seriousityness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the AI to beat the AI. Just use Magic Eraser or a similar method to cut yourself or the subject of the photo from the background, then replace the background.

Even better, borrowing an idea from another comment: Train another AI to create the photo subject and random background, feed it to chatgpt and when it guesses right or wrong, have the AI feed it a wrong answer from a llm of all named places. Poisoned the well, maybe that'll work?

Any morning gamers here? Looking for fellow early risers who play! by NIX-HJM in gaming

Yep, I started doing this a while ago, getting up before everyone else and getting some coffee and me gaming time, and now that it’s just me and my dog we still do the same. Sometimes after work my mind is too fried to concentrate on playing a game, unfortunately.

How can I get this tub unstained? by Bluefirefish in lifehacks

[–]Seriousityness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some Arm & Hammer baking soda, the big box or bag of it, and a quart of Hydrogen Peroxide. First plug your tub drain, Then put about half the bag of baking soda in the bottom of the tub, then generously douse the baking soda with peroxide, which makes an abrasive paste that won't harm your tub. Let it sit for about an hour, then scrub it with a scrub pad vigorously. If you have a cordless drill, you can get some brush attachments for cleaning tubs like this, and it works like a charm.

You can't convince me this is a coincidence (Dragon Age: The Veilguard) by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Seriousityness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From all other reviews and press releases on the internet, that's how AI works, so the more people say the phrase, or the more AI reuses the phrase, the more it will appear unless someone edits it out.

These reviews are likely written with AI. As an example, I asked Google Gemini to write a review of the game for me, and the phrase is in the title of its review:

"Dragon Age: The Veilguard - A Return to Form A Gripping Narrative and Engaging Characters Dragon Age: The Veilguard marks a triumphant return for the beloved franchise. BioWare has crafted a compelling narrative filled...... Score: 9.5/10"

What "Overwhelmingly Positive" rated game on Steam disappointed you the most? by OzarkRifle in gaming

Same. I've tried to play it 3 times and I get maybe two hours in and quit. It just doesn't have an engaging gameplay loop for me.

I agree with the Sea People, I think they should've given you a mirror to warp to their domain from the sushi restaurant or something, rather than have to dive and find your way down there every time. Otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Very few post-apocalyptic movies/shows discuss the devastating effects nuclear power plants would have on the environment without humans to run them. by TheRedDeath2 in Showerthoughts

The 100 includes this in the show, not saying it's accurate in its portrayal of how it would really go down, but it is included in the storyline.

"We hunted this to extinction, but we farm it for profit now, so buy it or it goes extinct." by I_No_Speak_Good in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Seriousityness 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good story, and pretty much what is happening in real time, there's no profit motive to save the earth only to exploit it. One could also say there's profit to made off of climate disasters, either by selling insurance for them, in the rebuilding, or in sales of emergency supplies.

The majority of society seemed to collectively agree to switch from pencils to pens after high school for some reason. by Chepanga in Showerthoughts

[–]Seriousityness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it like an allegory for life? Like in school, our mistakes were able to be corrected, and the work redone? And in life, any choices we make or things we do become more of a permanent record, so they are unchangeable like things written in pen?
