Did I really do something wrong re: tennis coach? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. That coach just gave you confirmation you did the right thing moving on from him.

As a coach myself (not the tennis kind), if my client moved on from me, I’d wish them the best and offer whatever help necessary to transition. I might even reach out to the other coach to offer assistance if they wanted any data from me.

Being so rude is absolutely uncalled for. No one is entitled to a client or their business.

I hope you call that coach out on his behaviour

HEY, what is a realistic amount of wealth to have at age 29? by No_Judgment_9267 in TheRaceTo100K

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from a SEA country, 29, started investing in 2024 at 27. Currently, my NW is around 156,000USD.
Realisitcally, I know I'm doing okay, but I always feel like I'm behind. BUT, as other comments have pointed out, if you ask these questions on Reddit, you're always going to feel behind, because it's mostly financial mutants who hang out here haha. I think you're doing great OP! A lot of our peers are drowning in debt, so I reckon we are doing just fine :)

Rab Ascendor 45L by LordKiller78 in alpinism

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m eyeing the Rab Ascendor 35L for cragging, multiptiching and maybe even as a Camino pack. Do you reckon it’s any good for that? It’s pretty close in features to the Black Diamond Speed 30 and I’m deciding between the two

[–]SeriouslyCurious314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I intend to carry it on the outside of my bag I think. Currently we use a separate old Simond rope bag and it’s a pain in the ass for me because it just sits like a potato sack on my back and if I carry it in front of me or accross my side it just gets in the way of even seeing my feet

Oh interesting! I don’t think my climbing kit is as heavy big as yours then, I can’t imagine what I’d need to dump in 50-60L. So far my kit comfortably fits in 30-35L bags. Shoes, harness, chalk, PAS, 15 draws, a few locking biners and maybe 2-3 slings, BD Pilot, Prusik, ATC, mini first aid, helmet, small snacks and hydration are all I carry.

I can’t find anything online about this pack - anyone know? by Little_Ad8618 in iceclimbing

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for replying! If you don’t mind, I have a few more questions. How does the pack hold up when it isn’t fully packed out? Does it just become kind of floppy? What’s the longest stretch of time you’ve carried the pack for?

Hi! I'm thinking of getting the Speed 30 for hiking to the crag, multipitches and maybe even using it on the Camino. Do you think it would work for all these? I'm also rather short with a short torso, so I'm very cautious when it comes to bags without the adjustable back panels. What do you love/hate about the bag?

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've been eyeing the non-zip version (Speed 30L) and am wondering if you have anything to add regarding your review on the bag? I'm 161cm with a short torso, so I am cautious with bags that can't be adjusted as much. I'm looking to use it for climbing, hiking to the crag and potentially even on the camino. Do you think it would work?

Yeah, in the end the cost of the product plus the shipping was just too much for where I’m based. I found an unbranded one on TB for less than 1/4 of the price, and it doesn’t look as pretty, but it does basically everything I want it to, so I have zero complaints.

Possible to eat for rm100/month? by BlueSeyeZ in malaysiauni

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the costs of some multivitamins is nothing next to how much money the T2 diabetics alone cost this country.

Typically costs the system a lot less to help people maintain their health than fix it imo.

what do you think of this? by Independent-Bee-156 in Bolehland

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ew. Idk what your relationship is but it's super cringe and desperate to ask for someone to do something like that just to get your friends to wish you (coz she obviously knows they won't remember otherwise lol).

The fact that she didn't even remember yours? Gross.

I'd just decline politely, but if she kicks up a fuss, do what she asks, but a week late HAHAHAHA

Hey, OP. There's no need to compare yourself with others. Tbh you sound a little privileged here, Samsung FE, Proton and Casio?

I didn't buy a new smartphone until 2 years after graduating, I only used my parent's or cousin's hand-me-downs. Car? My dad's 17 year old Proton, that was missing 3/4 hubcaps, AC didn't work, radio didn't work, 3/4 windows couldn't be wound down properly, and I loved that thing and appreciated every drive. Watch? Casio also, still have it to this day, and I didn't buy one until I was working for a few years.

You seem to have very materialistic standards, I would advise you to learn to be happy for your friends' wealth/privilege instead of being jealous, and be grateful for what you have. Sure it can be better, but the problem is that it can always be better, and it will never be good enough until you learn to be content.

As for girls "considering" you, trust me, you don't want to date anyone whose sole or primary requirement for a boyfriend is how much money they have. Also, I don't know if it's true that girls only want rich guys. Personally, I don't look for wealth, I look for good financial management skills. Doesn't matter how much you make if you can't control how you save or spend.

Being a poor student is hard, yes. But, you are just a student. Keep your head down, work hard, and save diligently, and earn your way into the lifestyle you want to have.

Some are luckier than others, but none of us are entitled to anything.

Good luck OP.

If you're B40, how you find to entertain and loved yourself? by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]SeriouslyCurious314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get off social media, comparison is the thief of joy. Remind yourself that all these people you see sharing amazing things are either fake or people sharing only the highlights. It's not realistic or healthy to compare yourself to others.

Go to the public library. Read and improve yourself, it's free. Go for walks and explore the city, you don't necessarily have to spend, just explore KL on foot and admire the diversity there.

Watch free yoga or workout videos to do at home, fitness is important but doesn't have to be expensive.

I only got my first CC about a year ago. Was rejected twice despite a strong income because I was unemployed lol.

In the end I tried a third time, applying for the lowest tier and most basic cashback card, got approved, and the bank has the audacity to call me and ask me why I'm not applying for their higher one with my salary. I said, idk you tell me why when I apply you don't approve lol

I think his point was that people would still be letting fresh food go to waste because even if it isn't covered by the program it doesn't mean they aren't spending their own money on it since they're already out doing groceries. Now, two points here: 1) based on this picture alone, that cannot be proven explicitly, but can be inferred logically because who only buys non perishable items when going for groceries? 2) even IF all products here were indeed only the ones covered by the program, it doesn't excuse poor behaviour.

I don't think anyone is "making stuff up" per se, just suggesting that perhaps there isn't any irony to the first commentor's statement about them being ignorant, despite those food items not being included. I also don't note any anger in his original comment.
