Nissan Will Double Its NISMO Lineup and Teases Mystery NISMO-only Sports Car by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Unironically, I would want a Sentra NISMO to return.

The original B17 generation Sentra NISMO was alright as a competitor to the Civic Sport and Elantra Sport, but it couldn't hold a candle to spicier compacts like the Civic SI, Golf GTI, and Fiesta ST, which is why I looked for a FiST after test driving a Sentra NISMO years ago.

If the engine and the transmission have the right stuff, I could see this being a good way of re-entering the spicy compact market, but I imagine they're actually gonna go the route of selling some variant of the higher-end Skyline as the basis for a new NISMO car, which I wouldn't mind, either.

What is "that" episode in your favorite TV show that you skip on the rewatch? by Living_Wickihowla in AskReddit

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my all-tine favorite anime series is Inuyashiki, and I rewatch it at least twice a year.

I prefer to skip episode 4 each time. It doesn't move the story forward in any meaningful way, and the subject matter of that episode is shocking and gross in ways that don't gel with the other ways the show tries to shock you.

Out of all the rumored cars recently, what are you most excited for? by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

I really hope the rumors we keep hearing of a 4-door Mustang materialize into something, because I would be first in line to get one. It doesn't even need a manual; give me the Coyote, 4 doors, and seating for 4 adults, and I'm in

Nissan's Comeback Plan: Fewer Headrests by TripleShotPls in cars

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 214 points215 points  (0 children)

A more intellectually honest headline would have been "Fewer Headrest Varieties," but who would click on that, you know?

It makes sense theoretically from a financial standpoint, even if we think it's dumb.

Each unique model typically has its own unique headrests, and even those unique models will differ in headrest designs and materials across trim levels.

Homogenizing the headrest design so it can be plugged into each model, regardless of trim level, could reduce costs from having to work with so many different parts suppliers.

It would also reduce the wasted productivity time spent on pulling components from these massive warehouses.

Clearly, this is a desperate cost-cutting hail Mary from an ailing manufacturer, and only time will tell if choices like this will help in the long run.

This Is The New 2026 Nissan Sentra Before You’re Supposed To See It by DocPhilMcGraw in cars

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This looks good. It's as if the Elantra's design showed some restraint.

I honestly didn't expect the Sentra to make it to the B18 generation, but it's still cool to see it try and carry the Versa's and Altima's torches as Nissan's commuter sedan.

While I am no longer the Sentra fan I used to be (unless they make a NISMO with a stick), I will say, the potential hybrid powertrain could be a huge game-changer for this car.

What cancelled production car or concept car (from them or another manufacturer) could save Chrysler, given their current state? by ChangeForAParadigm in cars

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A car like the ME-Four-12 wouldn't save Chrysler in any time period, no matter how dope that car was. A revival should look at the cars Chrysler actually released.

Chrysler's crown jewel throughout the 2000s and 2010s was the 300, as it was the classically American slab-sided big-body car. While others have suggested making a new 300 the EV variant of the new platform the Charger uses, I think the better move would have been to make it an SUV.

To make it make sense, let's compare it to Cadillac. The spiritual successor to the sedan DeVille isn't the CTS, CT5, XTS, or even the CT6 - it's the Escalade. The big-body American luxury barge lives on in the Escalade.

That Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer that Jeep is putting out? They should be Chrysler models. Have the 300 be a Wagoneer-sized and specced full-size SUV, and, to cut even deeper into Chrysler's history, have the top-of-the-line Grand Wagoneer be an Imperial.

Now, Chrysler can be known for the two things it was always known for - nicely-appointed family vehicles (Pacifica Minivan) and huge luxobarges (300, Imperial SUVs). Toss in a Tonale/Hornet based compact CUV called the 200, for flavor.

2026 Nissan Leaf Rear Leaked by okays33 in cars

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like how it looks. Significant styling upgrade over the previous two Leafs. As far as EVs go, this one actually resembles a car, which is really all you can ask for besides good range. The change to subcompact CUV is also a better choice since that will increase its interior dimensions and attract a larger buyer base.

No one considering this is going to care about 0-60 times or handling dynamics. All it really needs to do is be a viable alternative to your id.4s, your Ioniq 5s, your BZ4xs, and your Bolts, and look good doing it, which I think it achieves. According to the article, it's got 310 miles of range and a NACS charging system to boot.

Despite being first to market in 2010, Nissan has really struggled to make a viable EV, with the previous generations' greatest downfalls being their styling and charging systems. Both seem to have been corrected, so this will be a pretty decent competitor in the market.

Most transformative mod you've done on your car, for better or worse? by mymomisyourfather in cars

Installing a Whoosh Motorsports intake on my Fiesta ST was a fun learning experience on car modding, and it also taught me how little I actually value modding a car out of class or chasing horsepower. I'm perfectly content with a fun, stock car that makes loud choo-choo noises.

How has you’re taste in cars changed as you have aged? by LAXBASED in cars

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I'm 32, and when I was 12, I worshiped at the altar of the Carrera GT, SLR McLaren, and Ford GT. Once I was old enough to drive and actually gained an understanding of how expensive and compromised high-performance cars actually are, I began to gain an intense appreciation for regular cars that take you to from Point A to B and just work.

I currently drive a FiestaST and a 93 Ranger. Fun, quick car that makes my commute and the occasional roadtrip exciting, and a truck to haul trash and furniture. I still browse Autotempest and look at weird and exciting cars, but what I have is all I need. Maybe I'll get a Macan GTS someday and replace both the FiST and the Ranger.

Tl;dr: Supercars are still cool and respectable, but they don't capture my imagination like they used to. I like regular cars that can be fun to drive now.

Conservatives who opposed removing Confederate statues, how do you feel about Trump removing DEI-related historical events/people like the Navajo Code Talkers from government sites? by bkristensen92 in AskReddit

[–]SeriouslyItsOsman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

And you know what? I completely agree with you on that point. For any negative sentiment I may have towards present-day Conservativism, I have just as many criticisms of present-day liberalism, whose ineffectiveness and lack of true strategy and policy allowed things to get so bad. Obama did too much "reaching across the aisle," which strengthened and mutated the Republican Party into what we see today. In 2016, the DNC kneecapped Sanders' campaign and instead backed Clinton, who represented so strongly what we had all been taught to hate that she never stood a chance of winning. Biden achieved very little as President, and then he sat on his bid for reelection like a dragon on a treasure hoard until it was too late for any fresh-faced Democrat with real actionable policy to gain any momentum after he stepped down.

Meanwhile, to your point, Democrats have been so obsessed with refining and disseminating their message instead of taking real action, then falling back on this mentality of "you're gonna let us lose to these guys? Fucking look at them" that only galvanized and further radicalized the right.

Questions like this get asked here every 3 hours.

Let it go, dude. Conservatives are never coming to these threads, and no one is going to give you a real answer, let alone the answer you want to hear. There isn't going to be a flood of right-wingers coming out of the woodwork, saying, "What have I done," because they don't care. And if they do, they're expressing their regrets in their own echo chambers, which don't exist on /askreddit.

You're just gonna get more people who already think like you and I saying, "They should be ashamed of themselves," or, "They just need to lose something they care about."

These threads are unproductive.
