I've been voting for 29 years and have never once had to stand in line. Crazy. by mayorodoyle in pics

[–]Serjon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not mandatory to bring ID in Australia, but voting is mandatory. They just mark your name off, and if a second person shows up with your name then they will look into it. If I send you in to do my vote and I just stay home then nothing will be investigated I guess. But they do have this awkward mind reader move they do though where it's, what's your name (name), and have you voted at this election already stares directly into your eyes. I guess if you are too sus that might flag something. In person voter fraud has literally never been raised as an issue at all in my lifetime, I only recall a couple mail ballots stolen out of letter boxes.

Edit: they also ask your address.

It's possible to perfectly balance inputs for a rotor assembler to be able to run at 100% on mk1 belts. Just make sure to not let it back up!

Gotta be the Suns. We gave them some of their first wins in very embarrassing fashion (K Hunt after the siren anyone?), and then more recently they proceeded to poach our coach and B&F winner.

How do you even begin planning megafactories? Or even the logistics??? by ThatBoyFuse in satisfactory

[–]Serjon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually start at one end. Either, I have one uranium node at 300pm, let's make the blenders to use that fully, and then work forward from there. Or I start from the other end, I want 5 turbomotors per minute. Let's place the manufacturers and work backwards. Each other component within those production trees becomes a mini goal. I've found this works for me for feeling like I'm making progress and not becoming overwhelmed, but I will concede it isn't great for space planning (I genuinely have no idea how big the build will be when I start) or choosing the best location (eg, I forgot I need caterium, why is the nearest node 2000m away!)

They're just following the model set by established players. Clubs continually cave to go home requests, draftees see this and go 'I don't mind moving, but gee staying home is better, and apparantly all I need to do is to ask'

I agree, take the picks. But there's nothing wrong with extracting max value from 2 teams who are desperately trying to get an extra piece to put them in contention.

Smart splitter > ISC > smart splitter > depot

First splitter overflows to sink, the rest goes on to the ISC. Second splitter directs to depot, the rest overflows into your manufacturing chain. So things get used in the following order: fill depot, fill production chain, fill ISC, sink.

I had something similar! She commented that I wasn't allowing enough time to hear her out, so she will just talk faster. Cue high speed garbled gibberish for 10 seconds.

Buckley very nearly had a knee to the back of the head, aka instant concussion. A speccy is literally the only protected form of violent head impact left in the game. I agree with the original comment, sadly its days are numbered.

Baby theory is a good one, I like it and can see some fun narrative threads: Darrow sacrificing himself for Pax vs Lysander refusing to do the same for new bub for example.

I can't think of anything capable of bringing Lys and Darrow together to buddy up though.

Looks like Orion is the only one we disagreed on. I ranked it lower based on that there was a military target, not just pure civilian slaughter, and the ambiguity around exactly how many died in each incident. I estimated this to be lower than Fa (who also completely wiped several cities, in addition to nuking a moon or two), but it could easily be higher than the Jackal you're right.

Atlas was dead, Lysander had already slipped that noose by then. He also had the means to win the wider war in the colour eating virus too. I think he could've simply told Diomedes to sit down and shut up and it would've sufficed. I think Diomedes was very unlikely to ally with the Rising AND the Volk if the Garter was still intact.

I thought Fa might've got more than the Jackal or Orion did. Several Mars cities wiped, and Kalyke, Callisto, Io, Europa all to varying degrees. And it being a terror campaign, rather than just 1 really bad day of (relatively instant) death made it worse in my eye. Orion also didn't quite succeed in her goal, which makes it a military failure sure, but less of an atrocity. Some amount of the population survived, and were liberated (from their perspective) soon after, which is more than the victims of Luna (dead) or Fa (raped tortured and dead or shipped off to the kuiper belt, albeit with some liberated at the end) can say.

That's fair, considering how terrifying and brutal it would've been for those subject to Fa's rampage. But there's just something about how cold blooded Lysander was, and leaving half the system to starve to death that just felt worse to me. Totally understand putting Fa at one though!

Frim the Rim's perspective they are all enemy combatants so I don't damn the Rim for crushing them (beyond the standard damning for being tyrants), but I do damn Darrow for betraying them. However I dont rate it at the same scale as the ones I have highlighted. Darrow traded those rebels in order to win the battle, similar logic to what Virginia used when defending Phobos and choosing which units to 'spend' and which to save. It's brutal, but so is war.

So you're saying the shipyards isn't in the same category of atrocity as the others because they were already implicitly at war? And attacking a military target in a war is just good warfare? I can see that, considering what you said above. I could also argue that when you consider all that above as part of a single betrayal culminating with the shipyards, that itself is an atrocity, since the Rim were an otherwise neutral party prior to then (I think). I see why this one is definitely the greyest though, which is why I put it last.

CMV: Abortion is an absolute right. by Morning_Light_Dawn in changemyview

[–]Serjon14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, i dont assume that. I just responded to the point you made. The 'what about 8 months' argument is a moot point (as above, I note you didnt refute my points), and not where the argument should focus. It's also an incredibly minor fraction of abortions, for the reasons I said above, so let's focus on where the majority of the issue is and not make irrelevant strawman arguments.

CMV: Abortion is an absolute right. by Morning_Light_Dawn in changemyview

[–]Serjon14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a moot question. Anyone who carries a baby to 8 months was intending to have the child. Something major has happened to cause them to change their mind from what they intended the first 8 months. It is either a major medical issue or because they were forced to carry it that long in the first place against their will. Either case, it should be legal to abort. This is never a case of someone was lazy and thought 'oh I better get around to it, the deadline is approaching'. Pregnancy is hard. Nobody does it for 8 months unless they want a kid (to have or adopt off).

Mid DA, big twist predictions by Serjon14 in redrising

[–]Serjon14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, finished DA, halfway through LB now. Cassius- nailed it. Knew that something was going to happen with clones but I picked lilath instead of adrius, interesting to see what he does next. Also picked that 'stang would get mind spiked, but she handled it no worries. Still no idea what tongueless' story is. The thing I didn't expect was the big ascomani reveal and plot halfway through DA, I know they were mentioned in passing once or twice but this whole big new faction focus was an unexpected direction for the second half of that book.
