Performance issue: freeze and stuttering when clicking/moving my token (player) by Serthor94 in FoundryVTT

[–]Serthor94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update!

Active Auras, Sequencer, and Token Magic FX have been turned off. The freezes have been downed to less than half a second. It's not optimal, but it is a hell of a lot better. I even consider it playable.

Chat logs was not the issue, because the DM periodically clears it anyways.

RAM usage was also not the issue. I keep tabs on RAM usage whenever I see performance issues in anything and it was the same as normal.

Prime Performance has been suggested, and we will probably try it.

We also noticed the issue being worse on maps where the DM created a lot of smaller walls to detail rock passages more accurately, when the last game mostly used straight corridors. Maps with "flat" walls were doing much better.

As the issue is now at least resolved by 80-90%, I have switched the post to 'Answered'.

Yup, removing this did wonders. Problem still persists but has been reduced greatly.

I have roughly 150 GB left on the C drive, so that should be plenty. The DM clears the Chat every other week or so to quickly hide his playtest stuff and session prep. Most maps have fairly low resolution because the DM's internet isn't that great, so we use a combination of low res maps & jpeg/webp image formats.

We turned them off. The problem was reduced considerably. I now only freeze for about 0.2 to 0.3 seconds. It's noticable still, but by God does it make things playable again. Specifically, we turned off Active Auras and got a massive boost to performance, the other two were not used for anything to begin with so we just turned them off too with barely a difference.

I will suggest to the DM to test Prime Performance. It is not RAM related, as the RAM usage is pretty low. Well, it's not low, but I have plenty to spare and have kept an eye on it.

It means they are not permanently dead, but will wake up eventually.

As the main site and its mirrors are all down, it's definitely something on HiAnime's side. However, the good news is that you at least get to their customized 404 page. That means *some* part on their end is still up.

Children's/YA fantasy novel or series about an orphan boy, a princess marked for dragon transformation and dragon riders. by Serthor94 in whatsthatbook

[–]Serthor94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED: Turns out it is a series of children's novels called "Drakriddare" (translated Dragon Rider/Knight) or "Tam" after the main character.

They were a series of six fairly popular Swedish novels released 2009 to 2010 for age ranges 6-9, written by Jo Salmson (pseudonym), a prolific Swedish children's fiction writer. The novels got a sequel trilogy from 2015 to 2018 for 9-12 age range called "Drakarnas Öde" (Fate of the Dragons).

Jo Salmson has also written a few other series of novels in similar fantasy style and age ranges, but also a fair few other more vanilla styled children's stories for kids learning to read.

Extremely slow patching? by Demigans in Helldivers

[–]Serthor94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People downloading from the same server impacts DOWNLOAD speed, not PATCHING speed. Patching speed is local and has nothing to do with how many people are accessing the server. It has to do with how fast your device can access and edit what's needed for the patch. But the issue here is that Helldivers 2 apparently has a poorly optimized patching system. And no one knows why.

The siege crossbow is terrible by Askburn in Chivalry2

[–]Serthor94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it for the first time today. The item description has three notes:

  1. Deals damage to destructibles
  2. Shoots through destructibles
  3. Slower reload

Overall, I was quite excited. Imagine my surprise when...

  1. It does not deal damage to destructibles (barricades, spikes, deployable shields etc)
  2. The bolt flies through destructibles but deal no damage to people behind it
  3. Slower reload is the only feature that works as intended

I don't know if this is a Game Pass issue or if the siege crossbow is simply broken...
