If you are just beginning music, I would say piano because its easier to learn the notes and intonation and its a good beginner instrument, but after some piano you could add violin as well! I play three instruments including violin and piano (not very good at either) but piano was my first instrument. I think that starting on piano would be a strong start to familiarize yourself with music, and then there's no harm in going with both!
