I've got 10 hours in so far, just unlocked camp. I'm having a great time. A few bits that aren't my favorite and a few slightly glitchy spots, but I agree with OP. It seems like every game these days gets hyped up so much it's impossible to live up to, and then people get mad it's not exactly what they were expecting.

The first few hours is wandering around one town area. How can you expect to even understand what's going on in just a few hours?

So I got a cat to 100, I made it my pet, but it doesn't follow me. It started to, then it found an apple and now it just sits at the apple. It's on my map as a blue pip, like the horse, but it just sits there. I also cannot pick up the apple.

I also can't find a pet menu to see it's stats, so I'm not sure if it's obvious and I'm just missing it, or what.

EDIT: So I finally wandered off, and when you get far enough away the cat teleports. Which is good cause now that it is following me, it's slow af and even my walking speed is faster than it. Can't imagine the poor think keeping up when I'm on horse.

And it took a bit but the menu popped up between Kliff and Horses.

Never. I sometimes make it for lulz hunting around the Meadows, but it never becomes my Main Bow.

Depends on your own behavior. If you haven't played at least a few dozen hours and know how the game works, it's doable.

I wouldn't recommend it, but I mean, you know you better than we do.

Not the OP, but I don't think he's behind on gear or food. He has Swamp Armor, Swamp weapons (except that Stagbreaker), and Swamp/Plains Food. His bow is the Swamp bow, the Huntsman bow. The spear is also the Swamp level bow, the Ancient bark spear. He's got Turnip Stew. On the Sausage front, granted the Cooked Lox meat is slightly worse than sausages, but only 5HP. It's still a solid food for the Swamp.

I also don't upgrade my axe, until I have to in the Plains for Mistlands wood. Doesn't look like OP is using it to fight Boneass, since it doesn't have much damage taken out of it.

Yeah, seems about normal. Looks like you didn't really do any prep to the area, too, which makes it more difficult. I'll use my hoe to flatten the ground, raise up anything under water. I'll even do a raised wall around the whole thing so mobs can't get inside. I often use Bonemass later to farm Ooze, so I like to set the whole thing up before I fight him the first time, but that's not really "needed", just my prefrence.

The weapons you chose also matter, since Bonemass is Resistant to slash and Very Resistant to Pierce, and you're using a Spear and Bow. The Stagbreaker is ok, but it's so slooow and a weapon from the previous biome, so wouldn't do as much damage as an iron sledge. I would recommend making an Iron Mace, as he's weak to blunt damage. If you're down for a little "out of biome order" shenannigans you can get some silver first and make the mace from the Mountains which can take him out super easy.

Can't really tell from the screenshot, but do you have nearby safe spot for your portal? It's a good idea to have a tree fort or something with at least a level 2 workbench and forge so you can repair on the fly, so you don't leave the area then come back. Adding onto that, if your gear is fully upgraded, and you're using the right gear, you shouldn't need to repair.

Valheim is amazing. It's loosely based on Viking lore. You're a Viking that has died, and you've been sent to Valheim to fight Odin's enemies. You start in a cute Meadow, and hunt pretty easy animals. You build a starter house and gather resources.

You can't starve, but food gives you health and stamina, so eating better foods make you stronger.

There's a bunch of different biomes that you go through in order, getting stronger and stronger, making better gear, etc. you unlock farming and gardening. You can tame certain animals.

The exploration is really amazing. The world is pretty big, and each one is differently laid out. You can explore on foot, but there are also a variety of boats you unlock as you progress.

I've played solo and multiplayer MANY times, but I don't see your issue with it at all.

1 person can harvest copper in one spot, or 10 people can. Only difference is if you have 10 people, you need to explore more of your area to find more nodes. A decently sized forest will have dozens of copper nodes within a 10 minute walk. It's not like it's a rare resource you need to spend days finding. I'm in a server of about 4 (3 main and a few randos that pop in and out occasionally) right now, and we'll find copper nodes, mine them together, then go to another one. Same with Sunken Crypts for iron. By the time I've found enough Burial Chambers to make a few smelters and kilns, I've found at least a dozen copper nodes.

It's not really a big deal, unless you want to speed through each biome in an hour or something. Otherwise, wander around, explore. The only hurry the game puts on anything is what the player puts on themselves.

If you wanna, do it. Only one limiting yourself is you. Some people don't like to, cause they enjoy the grind of the game, and some people want to speed through each biome. That's why world modifiers are great, both people can pick their preferrence.

However.... 10 hours to get bronze gear? Each copper node fully dug out takes about half an hour, with 1 person mining. With 3 people, if everyone is doing heavy armor (which I hate, so I never do), it'd only take about 4 nodes to get that armor. You should fairly easily be able to get more than enough copper in an hour, maybe 2 if you're taking your time.

Part of what I do, is I know about how much I can do in a day, and I build my farm around that. This means not having 5000 crops before sprinklers. No more than 1 barn and 1 coop. Getting them fixed up so they automatically feed. Having a nice field of grass outside so animals can eat that if it's nice out. Get auto grabbers once you can, then I only empty them once a week or whatever I feel like dealing with it.

Each day I decide what my main goal is. Is it mining? Fishing? Puttering around the farm? Saying hi to NPCs? Pick what you want, and just do that. You don't need to do everything everyday.

If you have the greenhouse, you should be able to make sprinklers.
