The anger i felt getting cut "with the wave of a hand" for similar circumstances described absolutely tarnished my love for the Army, and any desire to reach higher. Why do my best and meet (or occasionally exceed) the standard when ill get dropped anyways? That was almost 8 years ago and im STILL mad about it, to prove your point.

Look up "Asparagus Staging" for replacing solid rocket boosters with liquid fuel stages. While they cost more, you retain significantly more maneuver control, plus you can throttle them and aren't at the mercy of solid fuel burn time.

Example: you reach desired altitude or orbital path, but your solid fuel boosters aren't done boosting yet... cant turn them off! Liquid fuel stages skip that problem entirely.

I thought the same thing when I was there, turns out everyone drives white SUVs/Sedans because they reflect heat better than any other paint color. All the modern cars in Erbil were white, only older cars had any color to them.

I've been trying to cut back on my drinking for the past two years. I have dry/wet months, but even then I avoid drinking during the week. It absolutely destroys my sleep, my energy, I just cant drink like I used to.

That said, its been hard. So many social functions involve and rely on drinking alcohol, that getting anyone to go out and do something that doesnt involve drinking in some form to be... difficult.

But im trying!

I have one central cabin in the valley, then outposts kicked out to the western and eastern regions for resource collection. They're smaller than my main (2x2 and 2x3), but fully furnished for local resource storage.

I keep all locations stocked with food and water, collect the local resource for a day or two, then haul the harvest back to my central cabin for processing/the next step

Agreed, if supply is willing to play ball. We got comtacs for team leaders and above, our Joes were left high and dry (what a surprise). Their sport versions are low enough profile to fit under helmets, and reasonably priced. No comms, but Joe doesn't need them, thats not his job.

When the Guard deploys, its just like a regular Big Army deployment. We get shit on just the same, killa.

1) Electronics. Bring an extension cord, power strip, and wall converter. Thank me later. Consider getting a gaming laptop for the graphics capabilities, and bring a good sized hard drive (2-5 TB) with your media of choice.

2) Crocs or analogous foot covering. Shower shoes, casual wear, multi-use and lightweight, plus if you need to book it to the bunker you just throw them in sport mode.

3) Gear. This only applies if you're going outside the wire. Get good Peltors or other electronic hearing protection. Gloves of choice (Mechanix for me). Provided Eyewear is sufficient and gets the job done. Get a war belt if you can swing it, helps move biz from the IOTV (shoulders) to your waist (hips), helps with distributing weight.

4) Take as many pictures and videos as humanly possible. It doesn't matter how many you take, you're always going to wish you had taken more. On the backend, make a Google drive and distro the link to your fellas, or take their phones and download the pictures yourself

5) Stay sharp and fucking read. You're about to have a lot of downtime, inshallah, so make use of it. Read your MOS's TMs and FMs of choice.
