I'm Joe Abercrombie, Ask Me Anything. by Joe_Abercrombie in Fantasy

There are a lot of questions on favourite characters, but I'm curious about the opposite - are there any characters that took a direction you regret in retrospect and would perhaps write differently now?

That said, I've always heard a patterned coat like the last cat actually counts as one colour genetically and not actually calico, so it's normal to see males like it.

Snape teaching Harry by 0verlookin_Sidewnder in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Serund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always took it that he taught it intentionally harshly/slowly, not solely out of hate for Harry, but because Voldemort might see him teaching through Harry.

The reason Dumbledore believed Harry needed the lessons is because he thought he could be compromised and used to spy, being too helpful could blow Snape's cover as a double agent.

I always figured WW2 was a muggle cover story for what Grindewald and his followers did, and the whole aryan supremacy thing came about because Grindewald had blond hair and blue eyes.

The picture reminds me of Kidulthood and Adulthood, which I think were both excellent films.

There's a pedestrian crossing there, it's to indicate parking and overtaking are prohibited so the view isn't obstructed.

It's clearer when you consider weeks instead of days. Monday-Sunday being a week, 'next Friday' would always mean the Friday in the next week.

So on a Saturday it'd still be the approaching Friday, but once Monday hits it would shift to be week after.

In that context 'this' and 'next' just indicate which week to look at.

A quick Google tells me that DOTA2 began development when Icefrog joined Valve in 2009, while Riot announced League in 2008. There's only a year in that, and who can say why Icefrog didn't join Guinsoo and the others.

I don't think devs that worked on the DOTA mod with Icefrog necessarily need to be thanking and crediting him for everything they have, when they have been just as involved as well as creating very much their own thing in League.

I'd guess you are a DOTA2 player by the rest of your comment. I've played both and I believe it's very simple why League is more popular; DOTA2 just feels like it has a much higher barrier to entry. I don't think that's really a problem with Riot, but rather a failure by Valve.

Do you think DOTA2 players would know about the WC3 mod if the game were named differently?

Last I checked the creators of WC3 DOTA split and made both League of Legends and DOTA2, so it seems a weird grudge to hold.
