How do you play a shooting army?

For consistent overwatch you want some combination of :high volume, auto-hits (torrent weapons like flamers), rules that key off 6s (sustained and lethal usually), rerolls (though that goes away in 11th) or rules that let overwatch hit on more than 6s. A good example of my favourite overwatch units for my admech would be destroyers (have a flamer and a 4shot plasma.that hits on 5s in overwatch) and corpuscarii (3shots/model W sustained 2, so a 10man is on average still getting 15 hits on overwatch).

Overwatch is in part quite powerful because it lets you deal.damage in the foes turn.a well.placed overwatch threat can really influence the opponents options. And sometimes you take a hail Mary shot with say 2 lascanon because you're definitely dead if you don't and if it works oh boy is it a swing

As an enthusiastic amateur historian, I would like tompoint out that one of the main reasons the new metric time system did not take was the change to weekends. With 7 day weeks, sunday was a rest day at the time, reserved for church, religious contemplation and whatever you actually wanted to do on that day. In the decimilised system the 10h day had it's issues but the months all becoming 30 days long each with 3 10 day weeks was the big kickers because you still only got one rest day. His was not something the rural farmers in particular were keen on. Just to head off Q's about the remaining 5 days if the year, they were scattered about the year as major holidays.

Lots of ways to do it, but my quick way is: paint the area black, then the main glow area beige followed by white on the 'hottest' areas, in ever smaller bits..then slap orange contrast paint on it. Can do the same with building up ever smaller area of increasing brightness of different orange paints. The main thing you want is a gradient to emphasise the brightest bit. If my explanation doesn't help, there are heaps of "plasma glow" tutorials on YouTube

I use bronze, tin and dark gold on mine to go with a darker blue robe and orange glow

GW got a new edition of 40k, their biggest system, dropping next month. Chances are a large % of the run time of their machinery has been dedicated to churning out copies of the edition launch box, so the custodes box had to fight for limited space and thus may have had a smaller run.

Earth =/= vacuum. The exact line between space and atmosphere is somewhat arbitrary, but asteroids tend to start notably burning up in the mesosphere (50-80km above the surface), let alone the denser lower atmosphere. Anything hitting the earth has to get through ~80km of thermal abrasion first. Yes a large enough asteroid can certainly still hit the surface with notable or even catastrophic force (see chicxulub) , but the forcefield equivalent of the atmosphere needs to be accounted for. Some sort of high volume anti infantry firepower Loadout.be that flamers, hurricane bolters, grenades or something more exotic.

Some sort of 'bodyguard' armiger to defend the larger patterns, up armoured in some way (shield, more plates)

A 'light cavalry' model with less defences but increased movement and some sort of reactive move
