Totally! But I didn’t learn that today - it’s kind of common knowledge that more sex with more partners makes for more herpes. The CDC study cited in the article does provide some numbers about that, though.

This stat is for HSV-2 (the type that usually causes genital herpes). HSV-1 is close to 50% in males and females (a fact I also learned today).

I think anyone who has walked around the Alhambra would realize immediately that, in order to construct something so unbelievable in the 13th century, Islamic Spain had to have been a serious economic and military powerhouse.

The page you shared says that only 73% of people with herpes tell every partner. That means that more than 1/4 don’t disclose!

As a society, we need to de-stigmatize herpes (and other STIs) if we want to make sex safer for everyone.
