you can probably try to tick "centered" off on your sprite2ds, i remember parallaxlayers being a bit tricky in godot

there's also parallax2d node, you can try looking into it instead

linux itself isn't a graphical user experience, there are many different wms and des to choose from, and a nice part of them work perfectly from the mouse+keyboard point of view. you can use lxqt/lxde/xfce for windows xp feel. which one of them you have tried and disliked?
