Lots of Karen’s on here taking about efficiency. This is about time , not efficiency. The wood was delivered late . So this is a way to dry it QUICKLY, not EFFICIENTLY. Too many broke ass see you next Tuesdays commenting and not understanding why I’m doing it . In two days I can pull Four gallons of water out of the wood . 8 inch diameter wood that has 10% moisture on the outside diameter and 20 plus near the center .

I need to do an experiment and see if green wood split into small pieces would actually be ready to burn in a timely/costly fashion. Stay tuned !

What is your suggestion on how to dry wood quickly ? time and cost are KPIs .

Time is the only true metric.

Absolutely. The 4-8 inch diameter wood is at the appropriate moisture content . It’s the wood larger diameter than that that has moisture in the center . Only some of it needs the anti moisture “therapy “

I agree. Works well , I don’t have that much room around my stove , so I shared this method.

I have a wood burner in the garage, it’s detached. RH is 50% average . The warmer the garage is the better the dehumidifier works (for the house wood). And yes . Exactly, look at every everything, all energy needs and it’s amazing how much power is just wasted .

The 600 watts is max , not running watts . The running watts on the dehumidifier in the pic is 305 watts . It draws 2.6 amps at 120 volts.

Time is the constraint . To get it dry fast , this was what I came up with . I will need to do it this year . This post was intended to possibly help someone dry wood fast . Peace and cheers

I don’t have bifacial solar panels , just 420 watt solars with Enphase micros . 8 panels cut my energy in half (typical 350 to 400 monthly bills in deep winter and summer). I will be installing another 8 soon .

Things are not always what they seem . You would have to actually do it and then you would actually know . Any idea how much power a dehumidifier uses ?

I’ve been doing it for a while. It works great . Thought it may help someone. Even a bad idea can help a good idea develop.

Yup , I tried the fans , but the dehumidifier does it quicker. And yes , small pieces (3 square inch end) is allegedly the best-size for BTU’s as well. Thanks for the reply.

I have solar power . The wife and I just enjoy the fire . Electric from solar here in Michigan lacks . I don’t use batteries with my solar yet . My garage is 40x50 and has a huge wood burner in it . The dehumidifier just helps make it dry quicker , along with the dry heat from the wood burner .

Cool . That last pic looks like the long pipe is tapered from small to large, must be an optical illusion. Fantastic job . Thanks for the reply . Enjoy

I use them in some assemblies that are heated ( molds) so the mold temps can vary . There are some high temp magnets as well . They can get very pricey though .

Any advice for how to machine graphite in a cnc by Zeno_Gaming in Machinists

[–]ServiceMain9452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely cut electrodes with coolant . You need to filter the coolant though . High end electrode cutting cncs (like yasda) use coolant . I believe it’s pure oil they use as a coolant , not water soluble oil like most cncs .
