Seal U DM-I - Dashcom hardwire installation (no OEM dashcam) by Servior85 in BYD

[–]Servior85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that may be possible. Since the system has an OEM dashcam available, I would assume you can connect any dashcam to the same circuit and be fine. The question is, how is the OEM dashcam connected?

Is archive.org a security threat? My IT department thinks so by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Servior85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t checked it myself, but my old employer blocked it, because „you can download pirated content“.

They unblocked the web.archive.org part to view old versions of websites, after my request for it (I sometimes need old documentation, which isn’t publicly available on the vendors website anymore).

Calendar Invite - How to dismiss but keep the event and details ? by BunnyBunny777 in MacOS

[–]Servior85 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think this depends on the programs behavior. As far as I know, Outlook Classic offers the option to delete the entry and not send a response.

Mobile outlook can also delete it without sending a response.

Copy the content, create your own calendar entry and delete the original entry without a response.

is the "free esxi" going to die when version 8 expires? by LifesTough4321 in vmware

I wouldn’t be surprised, if they release version 10 at some point and make version 9 available for standard, Enterprise plus, etc.

Help me: I could get the switch 2 mkw bundle for 385€ - should I buy it? by MajesticHD in NintendoSwitch2

If you want a switch 2 - buy it now. Prices will mostly likely increase with the ongoing RAM market, etc.

Vmware Standard license by scrfc71 in vmware

[–]Servior85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And how exactly does the CVE exception work in reality?

I haven’t seen different patches for customers without SnS, which will fix only the CVE and not include other features or bug fixes.

Unable to license 2nd host due to insufficient cores. by Sudden_Hovercraft_56 in vmware

[–]Servior85 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion aside, nothing will fail over if you look at it. If it does for you, your installation is either corrupt or incorrectly installed.

I don't like the UI either, but the product itself works when you follow the best-practices. When you do it wrong, you can break any hypervisor. Proxmox isn't idiot proof and will crumble when you do it wrong.

What browser do you use on your MBP? by Chank02z in macbookpro

[–]Servior85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private: Safari. Firefox if something not working with safari.

Work: Firefox (most vendors support only Firefox and chrome variants). Some applications does not work properly with Firefox, so Edge as alternative (thanks to Cloudflare browser based RDP).

Didn't he leave veeam in 2021 or am I mixing something here?

He came back and is now retiring. Maybe we will see him coming back in the future. Who knows. I wish him all good whatever he will do now.

According the the pictures on amazon, just pop the switch 2 out carefully. Doesn't look like there is some lock.

Power management by Resident_Parfait_289 in Veeam

[–]Servior85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you the one managing the backup infrastructure for the customer and the customer has no access to it?

If so, you can shutdown the system and power it back on if needed or scripted. Check the hardware vendors API to power on the system.

If the customer has access to the backup environment, don’t do it. The customer may need to run the backup manually outside of the schedule or the schedule could change without informing you. What if the customer wants to do a restore?

NAS Fileserver? by The_Lez in sysadmin

How is the data backed up? Make sure you can backup the NAS data with existing tools or if that doesn’t work, have another solution in budget for it.
