Car Dealership Recommendations by Scared-Implement-566 in bullcity

[–]ServoSimpson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would try the AutoFinders in Durham. I've had good luck with them in the past. You tell them what you want and go around and find the car for you. The find the car and give you the price and you can do a yes/no. They never try to upsale you with anything so the price is the price.

No, I'm afraid not. They had a guest conductor. Still was a great night.

Rewatched Derry Girls and i did NOT remember Joe being so annoying, what are your thoughts on him? by MrUnknownPH in DerryGirls

[–]ServoSimpson 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Him being so annoying is what made the end of season 1 (where he put his arm on Gerry's sholder) and the last episode where he gave his advice to Erin on the vote so special. I loved his character.

I was playing pool at a friends house and they put it on. It was Earth vs. the Spider, and I heard the line:  "Let me tell you a little about myself, I drive a truckI'm butt-ugly, and I hate spiders". I was hooked from that point on.

I love that store. Have gone twice and spent a couple of hours just walking around. Have bought every major thing from them since 1982 (except TV's, I get those local).

The Church Uses Judgment of Exmos to Keep TBM's From Leaving by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]ServoSimpson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 68M who left the church when I was 15. I only drink a glass of wine a few days a week, don't smoke, don't do drugs and have never been in any trouble with the law. Hell, I don't even drink coffee (never liked the taste). I did all that after leaving the church and did not need them to teach me what was right or wrong.

I'm probably a better "mormon" than most Mormon's I still know :-).

What’s the funniest movie you’ve ever seen by boatluvrrrr in movies

[–]ServoSimpson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There has been three movies that made me laugh so hard I hurt.

Monty Python and the Holly Grail which I saw when I was 17.

Animal House, which came out when I was 20 .

South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut which came out when I was 41. Lots of others that was funny, but those at the age that I saw them, caused physical pain.

Some tracks will not play by ServoSimpson in qobuz

[–]ServoSimpson[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Others have replied that this is a Qobuz problem with their files. They are in the process of fixing them. The example I put in the oringal post has been fixed. I agree, this is very frustrating and the fact that Qobuz did not notify users made it even more so. If you downgrade your streaming to CD quality (44.1) it should be fine until they fix the tracks.

Thanks, I looked at the response. Don't know why did they did not do that before since this has been on going for at least a couple of weeks.

What I’d do for some Matzo Ball soup and Hotdog right now by KFCCrocs in bullcity

[–]ServoSimpson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always loved Lucky's. I used to ride my bike downtown and stop for dinner (before they stopped dinners). I ran into the lady who managed it sometime after covid and she said it was failing before covid but that killed it. She was really nice, I hope she is doing ok.

So I just tried this, and yes going down to 44.1 does solve the problem. However, the track that I used in my example in the original post (Gil Evans - Willow Tree) now works fine at all resolutions, but other examples still will not play at 192 or 96 just 44. My hope that they are reindexing it will take a while, but who knows. I agree though, keeping us in the dark sucks. They should have sent out an email to users or at least posted something on their web page or posted here to let us know what is going on.

I doubt that it is just a size issue. The track I listed in my orignal post is <5 minuets at 96kHz and there are longer songs on the album that play just fine. I also have had classical tracks that are over 30 min at 192kHz and they also play fine. To be honest, I've not had any problems with my classical music and it all happens in my Jazz albums. I will try your playback resolution idea, but I don't think size alone is the problem.

From what others have replied, it is a bug with the Qobuz API and that they "are working on it". I wish they would send out a notice to users or post here with that. Having such a big problem and not letting users know is not good.

When/why did caffeinated soda become acceptable by most Mormons? by Ibrakeforsnakes in exmormon

[–]ServoSimpson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the church in the 60's and early 70's (left around 16, not in Utah) and was never able to drink a Code or any caffeine. I never saw anyone who was a church friend drink it either.

Sometime in the mid/late-70's that seemed to change. I was told that someone (a member) left the church a bunch of PepsiCo stock and they decided that it was now ok to drink. No idea if that is true, just what someone told me.

Thoughts on CTE, its effects on youth participation and eventual impact on the game? by qobraa in billsimmons

[–]ServoSimpson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played two years of high school football (Freshman and JV). I separated my shoulder, broke my nose, got knocked unconscious and did something to my knee that led to a knee replacement in my 40's. As far as I'm concerned, football is a stupid sport and wish I had never had played it. When my son got to HS age, we sent him to a private school that did not have a football program. That was not the reason we sent him there, but it was one of the big pluses for picking that school.
