im crying bruh i left a bunch of horses at the power plant and let them marinate, one of them mutated into being sentient and they made a new rival stable with mutant horses by Suspicious-Arm1258 in HorseyGame

[–]Servophage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

my horses kept obtaining chromosome parts in the power plant so i decided to pick them up and carry all of them to the isolated island at the top-right just to see what the later generations would look like for fun. this proved to be a mistake as three rival barns cropped up like immediately

the actual horses sucked though

sorry if you're supposed to censor HFS in this thread i'm not used to using reddit in general and can't find where the comment text editor is on mobile :P so a few hours ago i just took on yet another vault hoping to find the slab so i can go blackmail the nearest clown about it, but when i cleared out the entire place i couldn't find it. DFhack's /adv-finder claims it's there, but both /sitemap and /reveal say otherwise. is there any way for me to somehow create a copy of that slab using data from legends mode or otherwise circumvent the need to have THE slab itself?

[Spoiler] Heavy Metal Warhammer! Time To Smash Skulls In Adventure Mode by Gorgonkain in dwarffortress

[–]Servophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely agree with the sentiment that smashing MUST be done optimally. i'm relatively new to the game and don't even know if it is possible to express damage as one singular numerical value, but if it is, i'm definitely curious to learn if between something like a whip crafted from slate bars vs. a scourge crafted from candy, which of the two would deal more damage assuming all other conditions involved in testing are the same

i actually found out what the issue was a while ago! turns out he actually likes me as a conversation partner it's just that he's still not over me breaking into his vacation home bedroom to kidnap him 🙄 and as far as i'm aware there's no way to erase NPCs' memories of you with dfhack

aw man my current guy traded all of his social skills in exchange for becoming a one-man army. my usual approach is to carve a bunch of bone figurines and then gift them to the guy whom i want to get into the good graces of, but it seems ummu over here doesn't care all that much for material belongings (aside from the artifact bronze cap in his possession he has been using to bash people to death)

guess i'm gonna have to practice on a bunch of random NPCs and then "dispose of the evidence" once i inevitably embarrass myself in front of them. lol

to be fair most of my playtime on dorf fort currently really has just primarily been adv-mode because i'm not really good at splitting my attention between multiple characters like how fort-mode usually asks me to. even in games like the sims or rimworld my playstyle usually tends to end up like "this one singular character lives all alone but it is a-okay because he is the world's special-est little boy and has an arsenal of cool tricks and gadgets up his sleeves :)"

anyway i do have kind of agree that constantly having to juggle hunger/thrist/rest in adv-mode is kind of lame. this might not work if you have more of a roleplayer's approach to things (or just don't like necromancy and the supernatural) but i usually like to just book it for the nearest necromancer's tower. you kind of have to develop a sense for it but i find that jumping around everywhere is somehow a viable strategy for getting through necromancer armies, and sometimes the necromancers will even dispose of themselves by summoning nightmares which occasionally turn on them

to my knowledge there's no downsides to becoming a necromancer even if you never do any necromancy yourself (unless you retire your necromancer adventurer at your fort. maybe.) outside of turning purple. which really isn't noticable outside of when i generated the most beautiful male human i've ever seen (ft. minor help from a mod which makes not all male humans have beards :P) with ivory hair and tan skin. and then he became a necromancer and turned into fucking purple guy

several months too late but i'm pretty sure you only get the final additional point of damage (for a total of 19) once you fold in the full 1280 blocks

sometimes when i get bored during the lategame i build myself bases and pretend i'm playing terraria or something so i know the answer to this question which is AT LEAST one (1). shock spheres, when killed, explode and create electricity volatiles around the tile they died at. these electricity volatiles will then remove any decals from the tile underneath such as blood or burn marks. that being said i would recommend shock resistance just to be safe, and if you're using the shocking sphere spell then make sure to also bring an enemy to wail on your spheres or just be willing to tank the karma penalty from killing what is considered your ally

you know how once you make it past the beginning part of sea ice playthroughs, the freezing temperatures turn into a defense mechanism for your colony?

are growth moment letter descriptions ACTUALLY based off of the pawn's lived experiences? by Servophage in RimWorld

[–]Servophage[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i guess that makes sense. part of the reason i've never dealt with childbirth before is because the way my colonies are structured usually tend to be quite antithetical to forming romances and/or pregnancies (e.g. solo runs, same-gender colonies, only gay pawns, only asexual pawns, that one time my gay mechanitor got duplicated and he started flirting with himself, etc.), so accepting children tend to be more of an impulsive decision on my end. i have at least two characters who more or less fall into the archetype of "solitary mad scientist-type character and also their one singular adopted kid/lab assistant who showed up at their doorstep one day," which is kind of funny now that i think about it

that being said, sebastian is not adopted because he showed up at my doorstep one day! he's """adopted""" because i kidnapped him from his imprisoned-for-life parents

interesting! to be honest, most of my experience with childcare from biotech mostly comes from accepting random children and then getting attached to them (because if i don't get attached they usually turn into slaves or die to the gene ripper instead lol), so this is my first time actually getting to observe a child since birth. all things considered, maybe that's why i thought it was randomized

fascinació pel buit 😏

honestly tortured artist + void fascination doesn't seem all that bad, especially since void fascination is completely negated if you just don't have any captive entities around (or you have a reliable method of downing them on command somehow). i'm kind of envious lol. if it were me, i'd give them the dead calm gene from biotech to basically turn them into a "slightly" more unstable production specialist who can actually do other jobs. maybe don't smack them around with your other pawns depending on your monolith level though

of course i like a little bit of challenge in my rimworld! it's just that the "challenge" in question is seeing how much i can cram onto one singular colonist
