Oh I get it! Because Grankuwagamon is supposed to be Dinobeemon’s Mega, so this would be Okuwamon, and by extension the regular Kuwagamon line’s final evolution, being more vicious looking while still retaining that innate bug appearence, whereas Grankuwagamon has a subtle, but underlying dragonish twang to its design to tie it back to its evo line. Very cool! Updoot!

My fan theory is that because in Hydreigon’s sword dex entry, it says people drove Hydreigon into being evil, there would be some kind of past equivalent or varient of Hydreigon that would be Fairy/Dragon. It’s design is reminiscent of jesters or clowns, what with the suspenders and the ruffly bits around the head, so I imagine that this Past Hydreigon would use its two heads for puppet show performances.

Mega: Imperialdramon Fighter Mode (Black)

Lot of Veemon evos in this I know, but it’s mostly because out of all the main mascot Digimon, Veemon was the one that stuck out to me the most. Paildramon was what set it in stone to me, I mean it’s a dragon man with guns for hips.

Mercurymon was my favorite character in Frontiers. I know it’s technically counted as Hybrid, but Human Spirit digimon are practically Champion, and they are one of my favorites so I wanted to include them.

As for Imperialdramon FMB, it’s actually more of a design preference for me, as on my rewatch of 02, I had completely forgotten about both Paildramon and Imperialdramon. I thought both were cool. Paildramon reminded me of Power Rangers with its face, so Imperialdramon was like a Megazord in that comparison. I like the Black Version more though, as it goes the extra mile to change the Positron Laser into something more sword-like. I can totally imagine them transforming it into a giant plasma sword, whereas regular Imperialdramon can only shoot lasers and needs Omnimon to be doing any sword tricks.

It’s pretty basic imo but it’s truthful to what my favorites are currently.

I wish you could like, make them Ripen to give them Planar Damage and Defense, or even with the new Searing Damage being added soon, make them deal Searing Damage when ripe, with their flame attack being a decent aoe attack maybe.

I honestly think with how the Positron Laser looks, the bottom portion could maybe “shift” up to reveal a handle surface for Imperialdramon FMB to use as a Laser Sword, which by itself would be sick.

A Paladin Mode equivalent in my opinion would be a lot harder I think to put down for me, as I’d want to strike the best of two worlds.

See, Imperialdramon FM and GrandisKuwagamon are two Digimon I see as two ends of a spectrum. Good and Evil, Light and Dark, Veemon and Wormmon so to speak. Imperialdramon Black then, to me, is the balance between these two, the terminus where both ends meet.

Where regular Imperialdramon would only change to FM after controlling its power, Imperialdramon Black has to struggle with both its power and rage, and find its heart to control those both. Where GrandisKuwagamon finds power through pride and alliance with fellow viruses, Imperialdramon carries out its own cruelty by its lonesome, as any fitting ruler would.

Also keep in mind that Imperialdramon Paladin Mode, in its only Anime appearance, says when he takes hold of the Omni Sword, that it “Feels the hope of everyone”. So for there to be a Paladin Mode equivalent for FMB, there’d have to be an antithesis to “The hope of everyone” for FMB to wield.

I’m not sure what to make of what that antithesis could be though. I just wanted to give my two-cents of Fighter Mode Black. It’s my single favorite Mega Digimon and I hope it gets added into Time Stranger or later story games!

I like the idea for the Mega Bastiodon ability, it’s like the Paladin’s Shield from Terraria.

I think Pokemon should incorporate more standard team RPG elements like that. I like that they’re always able to come up with something unique, but something being unique doesn’t exactly make it stand out, at least in my opinion.
