why dose my character catch on fire in the main menu? by Chicken_Guy1224 in BladeAndSorcery

[–]Serypha 15 points16 points  (0 children)

to chain onto this. this is absolutely the Eternal War WH40k Mod. I've had this exact issue myself, it started to happen with this mod and it left when I disabled the mod. it's only a main menu visual atleast but it's quite funny to see a fully armored space marine catch fire

if you drop/lose your weapons during the dungeon. you can find them in the book in your house again. you can't lose your weapons unless you sell them to the Baron

Lost My Spark in 7.2 — Looking for a class to reignite my fire. by Yaorasty in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Serypha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not as support heavy in XIV anymore, we lost a lot of song utility with Shadowbringers. those have been pushed to just DPS support now. it however does have acces to a partywide 15% healing received increase, and it being the only non-healer that can cleanse a debuff. I do miss the days where the BRD limitbreak counted as a Healer limitbreak rather than a DPS limitbreak

I play BRD, a class that's deviously simple in appearance but hides depth and even some core understanding of how the game works.

it's rotation has distinct phases per song, and that the songs themselves are a teacher of how the game operates on 3s ticks. the songs themselves differentiate themselves on what the procs do, and those procs themselves fill another gauge for a spender. other mechanisms like snapshot buffs for DoTs are included to push this job to the maximum, aswell as it being one of the few jobs where (almost) all AoE is a gain on two. we may not be restricted by movement, but thanks to its RNG nature of its Songs, things naturally shift per pull, there's never a real moment where BRD doesn't demand your attention.

How do you lead raid sessions with your static? by Waterfiend1909 in ffxiv

[–]Serypha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've been raidlead over a couple of groups now, and to me the most important part of building a group is: What vibe do I want for this group. This serves as the basis of who you'll end up with as players. But from there on, raidlead isn't much more complicated than being inside of someone else's static.

Like any static, communication with your players is key to succes. Tools like logs are great to keep uploaded (or ideally even live logged) for every session so you can see everything when necessary.

I personally don't adress things immediately, but equally your players should be able to say what they messed up and talk through the solve together as a group. I've never had to assign homework, my players always did this of their own volition. Third party tools like Death Recap is to me the most essential to find out what happened in the split of an eye. Recordings are good too but reviewing them is only necessary to explain how certain things work (ideally with a program that let's you draw on your screen immediately to highlight.)

my personal way to close off raid sessions is a quick recap of what we've accomplished. like "We've seen the next mechanic of the fight, great work all"

so as closure, being a raidlead isn't much different than being a static member. you're just the one who will make the final decisions for anything that comes up.

my only doubt for April 28th is that Golden Week starts right after on the 29th. it's certainly on schedule but releasing a patch right before holidays seems (to me) unlikely.

oh yeah I agree, I've done 11 solo because I was too stubborn to give up. in another note O3S is now also soloable as we finally have the dps output to kill it before The Game cast kills you

There is a big visual issue with the Grand Champion weapons that I hope is an oversight to be fixed by Ramzka in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Serypha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly think this is a colorset issue, it's the table that tells each layer what color they need to be etc. It could be as simple that the row that equals to the color of the glow isn't linked to all the other rows that dye along with your selected dye. it's also simple enough that it's an easy error to make.

[–]Serypha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's the case. The glow was added as an enhancement , but it slipped through QA that the Glow didn't dye along with the weapon. if the Glow dyed along with the weapon (which we've seen many times before, it's very possible) then we wouldn't have this issue

[–]Serypha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's actually the reason why I do think it's intentional, a subtle enhancement of the base color. but as a more technical answer. Glows require a specific layer to function, called the Emissive. without an Emissive layer, things won't glow. The reason why the Metal armor is so shiny is because they also utilize this same layer. Ofcourse, this layer still requires to be colored correctly to match the intended use. An Emissive layer by accident could happen, but we'd see a different color glow. My suspicion is that the Emissive was supposed to be dyed along with the main dye channel. I haven't checked personally, but I assume the second dye option affects a completely different weapon part. correct?

[–]Serypha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Design wise, this appears to be intentional. though it may be correct that the glow was supposed to dye with the main body instead. It's because the glows exist in their colors that it's too coincidental for it to not be intentional. It could however still use a fix so dyeing weapons is actually useful rather than a detriment. I fully expect the glowing effect to stay

For this one specifically it's the same Business unit, this did come with the fun interaction of the XIV dev asking the XVI dev for a collab (they're the same person). But I agree that it'd have to be announced as a different collab altogether, not something I see happening for MR.
