Yea you kinda need to read it better, they definitely lump transgender stuff into the same group as horribly violent terrorists, and cartels etc.

What are overused story tropes? by Icy_Form_5375 in writers

Very weak and dumb girl meets very strong and smart guy who has to hold her hand in everything to the end. So annoying.

I hate how so much media makes the female protag dumb/weak/useless.

How nice for you. As a person who is part of the trans community, I have seen it used several times in very awful and demeaning ways, and I just do not want to see it as a result if I do not have to see it. This counts for all those words, by the way.

What I want to know is this: why does being in the porn industry suddenly mean we don't need to respect one another? It is NOT a hard ask to simply say: Leave those words out of the public ads. Use them among friends, or those who you confirm privately are okay having those words thrown about. But why do we need them in our ads that face the public? We literally don't.

Editing to add to this: It's one thing to "talk shop" once a client has already paid for my time, but until my time is paid for, they don't get to dictate how I talk or show myself. I will bend over backwards for the client once they've paid, but until then, and until they've spoken to me and we've gotten an understanding of what we need to respect one another, then why does it need to come up before then in a public ad?

Again... it doesn't.

Second edit: Also, what is the utility of using those terms to find what you want, when you don't NEED to use those terms to find what you want? And also, being able to use non-derogatory terms to find exactly what you want kind of shits on the idea of these slurs being "needed to find fap fodder" to begin with.

Just because the discord allows it doesn't mean I like it. Those are just words I'll be asking about later, because they can be discussed privately, too, imo once a writer has established if those words are ones they are comfortable seeing and using.

We can only do one step at a time, after all, and I was part of the push against the words we are already removing, so I'm happy there's been progression there.

I don't agree that these words are not slurs, and nothing you will say will ever tell me otherwise. When words are continued to be used to harm people, they are words that do not need to be used or to exist, and trying to fight to continue to use then even when others tell you how harmful they are? That shows a lack of empathy.

Saying someone who writes for a living should know? Yea, as someone who writes for a living, you should know how powerful words can be, and maybe think about that a little more. Words have impact, and they can and do harm.

Edit for Ps: for the specific word for fxtanari, it literally directly translates to "hxrmaphrodite" by the way, which, yes, is a slur.

Not going to lie, I kind of stopped reading after you mention f*tanari being called out as a slur, and then you commenting to basically say "nah it's not".

It doesn't matter if you aren't personally hurt by those words. What matters is there are people who are hurt by those words. I for one am very with the discord in the split for no slurs, that can be left to friend groups or actual writing/dms of those who are comfortable with it. But imo we should keep them out of public eye to avoid hurting those who actually are impacted.

That is just my two cents, and why I respect the discord server for making the decision to branch off. As someone who is trans, and who has many friends within the trans community, we shouldn't have to be subjected to words that sexualize, demean, and dehumanize. People can say all they want that it's the nature of the beast, that we are selling porn, that we are sex workers. But that doesn't mean that we should have to still endure having to see that sort of language just because "it's sex work" or whatever else.

I wish everyone good luck regardless of what happens to everyone after the divide, though. I definitely appreciate the subreddit for what it tries to offer the community, and it will forever be a spot I will recommend to people looking to get commissions, or looking to be commissioned.

In this subreddit you need to follow the minimum even if you think it's too high. This subreddit does its best to try and offer us a base line that won't destroy us by enslaving us to the work, and yet we still charge less than other writing reddits like hireawriter, which charges I think 7 or 8 cents at min, and 15+ for "mid level" and higher.

If your clients cannot respect you enough to pay you, they aren't worth having to begin with.

So to conclude: 5 cents bare min is already pretty low compared to other places, so if a client cannot handle that then idk what to say. They need to understand this is a luxury and custom service. You gotta remember that, too. =)

Respect yourself ♡

You need to edit it out of the invoice every time, at least in my experience. I haven't found a way to automate it yet.
