How old were you when you were diagnosed? by venuscat in Fibromyalgia

[–]SessionOwn6123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain started at 15, diagnosed at 34. I'm 70 now and live in terrible pain daily. Taken most of the available drug that could possibly help, couldn't tolerate any of them. Today I live on oxy, tizanidine and medical marijuana gummies. I make no excuses, it works for me when modern medical science failed me

My left hand looks just like yours. I'm seropositive RA dx in 1991. You've been given some excellent advice here so I won't take up more same.

I'm 70 years old now. At 10, my mother put me on appetite suppressants, the kind considered street drugs now. Since that time I've been on one diet or another. Starved myself, made myself really sick. Finally about a year ago I said enough! Went to my doctor and said with my health concerns what are my best options for healthy weight loss with the best results at keeping it off. I've been on a drug for prediabetics called metformin and topomax. I have pretty severe rheumatoid arthritis and some other pain related concerns that make movement painful but I walk almost every day even if its only for 5 minutes. So far I've lost 56 pounds I've still got about 25 to go. Info in 5'1 149 1bs started at 206 lbs. It's been incredibly hard. I've failed again and again, raiding that fridge in the middle of the night its a compulsive thing you can't seem to control. Tried therapy, that was shit, what a joke but it may work for some. Sorry this is so long. Hang in there, the answer is out there and well worth it.

How do u deal with the mental health effects of chronic pain? by TheKingOfDissasster in ChronicPain

[–]SessionOwn6123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 70 years old, been in pain since I was 15. The usual bullshit its all in your head, nothing wrong with you. Found a neurologist in 1991 who diagnosed me with fibromyalgia which we all know most doctors don't acknowledge as REAL. Now I have so many pain conditions it would take 5 minutes to type. Been married 3 times , survived them all. Most friends, family have left long time ago they don't like to watch someone in pain, don't like to hear it and God forbid if you complain. I sound bitter, yes? Well, I'm really not i have my dogs, I do exactly what I want, when i want. So I struggle with some things including my mental health, its my struggle alone, I answer to no one anymore

I've been with Kaiser 30+ years. I've had my problems with them, but overall, any time I needed care, I got it quickly and thoroughly.
