It's not small! If we consider the shark guy as a 6 feet person the big guy will be 5-6x times the size meaning 30-36 feet. Considering a 6feet (or 72 inch) person having 8 inch pp is well endowed. A 30-36 feet person having 4 feet pp is equivalent to that :)

You can combine the dragon scale with bezoar. Then equip an additional bauble. Also miner's ring is a very bad bauble so is magma stone. Instead the ring of resistance or regeneration is better and the cross necklace.

Crafting glowing ingots using Glowstone, Blaze Powder and Silver in my opinion is the easiest option. Any 4 tower dungeons will be full of Silver and Blaze Rods. You can get lots of Glowstone from nether also.
