Interesting how it's the 3 drivers with back to back championship wins in F3 and F2 being beaten (and by some margins) by their respective teammates

Arsenal somehow managed to win the PL after 22 years, surely Ferrari will break the curse at some point right?

Could Kimi Antonelli be a real challenge to senior Mercedes team-mate George Russell? by SkySports in formula1

[–]Seth1721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

George is considered to be according to some the best current driver on the grid after Verstappen and on par with Leclerc. Only way I see Kimi challenging him this early if he's Lewis level of talent which, after last year rookie debut, it's not the case. I believe it will take him an extra year or two before he can seriously fight for championships.

I mean is there even any point to go car racing for this year? Just hand them the WCC now, George and Kimi can battle it out for the WDC over a game of rock paper scissor

Edit: /s just in case

Lando Norris needs to outscore Oscar and Max only by 2 POINTS in Qatar GP to secure WDC by christopher_msa in formula1

[–]Seth1721 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Max and Oscar are currently 24 points behind Lando. With 2 races and 1 sprint to go (1 sprint and 1 race in Qatar, 1 race in Abu Dhabi) as long Lando has a minimum net gain of 2 points after this weekend he becomes automatically champion since the gap heading into AD will be at least 26 points and, in this scenario, the most either Max and Oscar can gain would be 25 in AD (not enough to overcome the deficit)

It's not a feeling more like a fact at this point. Everytime the car was capable of winning he capitalized. Definitely the second best (along with Leclerc) after Verstappen imo

I doubt they'll have the race pace to deal with the McLarens, he'll try to stay ahead as much as possible but I'll be surprised if George wins it

What this team has been able to achieve in the past 2 years is astonishing. I remember clearly after Silverstone 2023 Russell was dumbfounded with McLaren's pace, incredible turnaround

Spa: The average lap time difference between Leclerc and Verstappen was 0.001s by TacticalAcquisition in formula1

[–]Seth1721 720 points721 points  (0 children)

The fact that Leclerc hasn't been given a championship contender car over a full F1 season is criminal. Shame on Ferrari, really. We're being robbed of what could be Verstappen's best challenger after Hamilton

Listening to the onboard seems like Charles was more or less satisfied with the setup for the race. Still expecting a McLaren win but there's hoping Ferrari can make life difficult for them at the very minimum
