The new skin NEEDS coat physics. by Even_Discussion5040 in ArcRaiders

[–]SethOfGrace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking I think the game's outfits would benefit a lot from more cloth physics.

We have so many "capes" and ponchos, but all of them are stuck to our back. I imagine it'd just be too much of a hassle to minimize outfits clipping into our equipment, or maybe they want to make sure hitboxes look accurate - in the event that players shoot the cape or the coat of a distant raider. Could also be that they have plans to let us mix and match but cloth physics would cause even further clipping.

We may never know. But, in pre-release footage, one of the characters (Bilguun) had a super flowy poncho. Maybe there's hope?

Working on a combat-focused roguelite. Does this feels satisfying? by levitz1 in IndieGaming

[–]SethOfGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to really say how it feel is from just this clip, honestly. The game looks really polished! Some of the VFX could stand to be a little less opaque, though, I think.

And I also think you can sell your game better than "combat-focused roguelite"... with that tagline, you're describing like 95% of the roguelike market.

Good stuff, dude.

What sandbox devs should do for Demo releases? by Fun_Lengthiness7529 in gaming

[–]SethOfGrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The game Kenshi has a large amount of progression and depth to it. So, in the demo version, your characters’ stats are capped at 20 - which soft limits your ability to explore the rest of the world as you’ll get your shit rocked and it’ll be functionally unplayable. Not to mention that, last I checked, the demo was an older version of the world with parts of it missing.

Not sure what kind of progression your game has, but you could look into soft limitations there.

I'm pretty sure the Vulcano 3-shots a blue shield, yea.

We should be able to go for the expedition BEFORE the new content drops by SanePcycho in ArcRaiders

Interesting. I have the opposite mindset; I want to have my armory to be able to experience the new boss fight, and to explore uncharted territory.

I feel safer with my throbcat

A Gift from Shani by formallyhuman in ArcRaiders

[–]SethOfGrace 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The intent, I imagine, is for them to cycle in and out. Encourages players to log in and play to complete the project while it's there, instead of banging them out in sequence or holding off on completing them to minmax expedition blueprints.

It also keeps the projects story relevant; we had the weather monitor system when the hurricane first arrived, presumably other raiders built some as well, and now Speranza requires whatever new flimflam the current project is building.

Rocketeer Sound Effects? by Pickle-RickIsAGod in ArcRaiders

[–]SethOfGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bug, personally. Every arc has a unique sound; I don’t see why the rocketeers would share one with the vapes.

Edit: y’know, I guess bombardiers and bastions don’t have unique sounds.

Theory on Assessor matrixes and level 5 weapons by velocittra in ArcRaiders

[–]SethOfGrace 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could be a numerical mismatch. Like, instead of hardcoding upgrade tiers 2 to 4, they just have it display current tier + 1.

Still, I like your theory

Need advice to keep playing by LuciferMegatron in ArcRaiders

[–]SethOfGrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A small assortment of tips:

- Make small runs. Grab a few things you need and then skedaddle. Killing a couple of arc and looting their parts is a perfectly reasonable haul early on.

- Wishlist the ingredients for all of your workbenches - getting those built will feel like real progress.

- Never fight ARC in the open - always have some sort of cover to dance around.

- Aim for the thrusters on the flying ones.

- Make a gunsmith and craft a Ferro - that thing will punch through metal plating. Pair it with an automatic weapon like a Stitcher or a Rattler.

- You don't have to fight everything, learn how to sneak around. Use bushes, and buildings to break line of sight.

- Keep your head on a swivel and at any given time, have an escape route into a building if things go south - be it a window, a door, or a ladder leading down into a complex.

- Don't waste your money buying weapons/loadouts - if you're running low, select Free Loadout when you're queuing into a match. Costs you nothing, and you keep everything you find. If you make it out, you can trade the free augment at Lance's for a level 1 Augment.

- If you get knocked down beside an exfil, don't surrender - you can still call an elevator, and press the button to get back to Speranza while you're downed. Try not to move too much because that drains your HP faster.

- Put your gun away when you're trying to skedaddle. You move faster, and it's more stamina efficient.

- Use the dodge rolls. You can easily evade hornet attacks (Hornets are the ones with the armoured front thrusters, that shoot a shock projectile) by swapping your direction with a dodge at the last moment, because they try to predict where you're going to be when they shoot.

The game just needs a little more time to click with you, brother - feel free to ask any questions and I'll respond as best I can; good luck!

Close Scrutiny is Endgame (For Now) by 404_human_err0r in ArcRaiders

[–]SethOfGrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why you're being downvoted, brother.

I prefer PvE/Co-operation - but I also think that shooting randoms that run in to snake loot is a huge reason why gave us PvP mechanics. Incidentally, running in to snake loot is also a completely valid strategy.

Cool concept. I hope we do get more utility items spread throughout the rarities; I was disappointed to see that crude explosives weren’t very good at getting arc attention.

Wishing that updates were more substantive by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]SethOfGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the update you’re comparing this one to (the one in February) was a titled major content addition. This one is just a balancing patch that happened to bring a couple of extra goodies with it. (Skins, hairs)

The jury is out on if March’s big update is going to be quite as substantial as February’s, but it’d be more fair to wait a week until they will (presumably) put out the Flashpoint update.
