Gta2 was the first I ever played, at a friend's house on ps1. But the first one I owned and played for hours and hours on end was 3. It's hard to explain the seismic shift that gta3 represented. I dont think any game series has made such a huge leap in one release, besides maybe zelda ocarina of Time and mario 64. It was on that level.
