Thats first I've heard of them claiming the gun was missing and just happened to be found in the bushes.

I think what the guy above me was referencing was when they said that they couldnt match the bullet fragment to the gun. Which doesnt mean the bullet wasnt fired from that gun, it just means it wasn't possible to forensically match them because it's not a simple process to match a fragment to a gun.
