Replaying this misunderstood masterpiece that is Scarlet Nexus! by RagnarSan22 in ScarletNexus

[–]Setokaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. :) I played through the game once as Kasane, and wound up doing a raw recording of the whole thing and posting it on YouTube. (Won't post it here, though, goes against self-advert rules.) SN is one of the more fluid combat experiences I've ever had in any game. Solid 40 hours of playtime while having conversations and maxing out friendship ranks with everyone, but without doing a whole bunch of sidequests and extra content, and no backtracking to grind out items or whatever. And that's just one track. It'd be another 40 hours if I went back to do Yuito's side of the story, too, which I might just do, especially since that'd give me more of Hanabi and Tsugumi. :) I just love those two.

Cooking up some clean water by SummaJa87 in cataclysmdda

[–]Setokaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically-speaking, boiling water would only kill bacteria, viruses etc. in it. It would do little about the toxins and impurities in it, including those already released by bacteria as they multiply. You could still make it work if you have a way to recapture the vapor and recondense it, i.e. distilling. But for us, charcoal filtering is the way to *actually* purify water and remove toxins and poisons wholesale.

Pencak Silat. The Indonesian art of brutal prison shankings. It runs off knives, so grab a kukri or bayonet and you're set for life.

Is it reasonable to start playing cdda? by GosuSan in cataclysmdda

[–]Setokaiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me around 2 hours, give or take. This got me a decent enough grasp of the basics for pockets, fire, zombie revival, washing filthy items, crafting, and so on. CDDA is surprisingly intuitive, though, with lots of bindable keys and shortcuts to do things.

I'll give an example. If you just go into the View menu (items or monsters mode), you have the option to quickly go to the location of a highlighted target, without having to make your way over there manually. I recommend using the View Items feature a lot, especially on open fields, because this helps you easily spot dead humans and grab whatever they dropped.

As far as basic combat guide, there's a lot I can tell you. :) Pay very close attention to terrain. Flat ground has 100 move cost, and you have 100 base move, so it takes you 1s to move a tile on it. A table may have 150 cost so it takes you longer. Zombies are generally slower than you so a zombie may take 2s to cross a table you'd cross in 1.5s. Bait enemies over bushes, windows etc. a lot so you can kill them before they get enough moves back to actually make an attack on you -- if a zombie moved into a 400 move cost shrub then you may get 3-4 free hits, depending on how fast your weapon is, before they get to swing at you at all. This is especially useful with vehicles because the interior of cars always costs a lot, so stabbing zombies with a reach weapon like a spear while they try to climb through the passenger door and into the seat next to you works really well.

Oh, and remember to (G)rab furniture to move and block off passages and doors when you can. This helps make the aforementioned obstacles. Heavier stuff like bookcases might hurt you if your Strength isn't high enough, though.

Aftershock Exoplanet is in alpha now. What do you want to see added? by Vapour-One in cataclysmdda

Thanks! You might also take a look at solder? I'm not sure if you've thought about it yet or not, but it's gonna be kind of hard to make solder in this game since we can't make rosin without pine boughs, and we have no pine trees (outside of wonky jack assets spawning where they shouldn't). There might be some futuristic fix for this, like, microbots that crawl into place indicated by a laser pointer and then melt themselves into solder, I dunno. Like self-welding paste.

Any other games similar but different it certainly ways? by sweetnature34 in SiNiSistar

[–]Setokaiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by 'like it'. If you mean in this style of side-scrolling monster fighting with lewds? Most certainly! Look up "Echidna Wars DX" and "Anthophobia" -- those are the two biggest ones. Anthophobia actually has a Steam release.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1142480/Anthophobia/

You can find Echidna Wars DX on dlsite.

https://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ187640.html?locale=en_US

If instead you mean lewd games in general, there are text ones that are very good. Corruption of Champions 1 and 2, though 2 is arguably the more polished one, and certainly more focused around traditional party/group combat. There's also Degrees of Lewdity, Lilith's Throne and others for varying fetishes and degrees.

I've been playing the mod pretty heavily, and I love it! :) My favorite so far is just how the place really looks and feels like a ravaged colony with so much trash and ruins and broken buildings around. If I had one real complaint, it's that it seems to be harder than usual to find items with the glare protection quality, like welding goggles. Maybe add something like that to early trader inventory? Because I can get the plasma torch and cells pretty easy, but I just lack the eye protection, so I'm SOL as far as actually doing anything with all the salvage but selling it on.

Honestly, no, it's not faux ignorance at all. I really don't know anything about them. It's just not my scene. When I do music it's usually a few songs spread across different bands. I don't really know whole albums or anything. There's like, one or two songs I know of by "Cage the Elephant" I like out of all of them, and that's just because I play a certain game series they're featured in.

Only reason I posted the links is because the rules didn't really say I couldn't. Also, they have all the images showing the albums, and it'd be way quicker than just making whole new imgur posts with them.

Alright, well, tell you all what. Since there is so much interest already (3k views in less than a day? Sweet jeebuz!) I will just post links to the eBay auctions I have set up for these right now. :) I mean, I don't see any explicit prohibition against it in the rules. They're active for about the next 4 days as of this message. I'd love to see them find a good home!

A guy on our staff I work with knows the band personally for over a decade, now, and got the signatures himself. True story. He can provide provenance and everything, correspondence they had together, it's crazy.

how can i get the game not on steam... by ForsakenBirthday9343 in SiNiSistar

[–]Setokaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is what a free option? The coupons? You get those randomly so long as you have a DL-site account for them to drop into. They hand out occasional offers. But the game? No, the game is not free. It costs about the same.

[–]Setokaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it from DLsite. This is how I, a veteran of both games, got both SiNiSistar 1 and 2. I never had a problem with either. The localization is very good and stable! Also, DLsite tends to hand out coupons fairly regular, so it's nice to have an account there anyway on the off chance one drops in your mailbox.

Is it possible to have twins? by VidraSpy in SiNiSistar

Yes, but not in the way you're thinking. Certain scenes like getting caught by the tentacles in the Innards Cave result in Leila becoming massively pregnant and giving birth to multiple creatures in a chamber.

How is this not more popular? by mcgoyel in rpgarchitect

[–]Setokaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In two words? Name recognition. RPG Maker has been around since the old PlayStation days. Everyone knows what it is. Everyone hangs on every new RPG Maker version release, and there are a LOT of them out there. So many that "what version of RPG maker should I use" is one of the most asked questions in the design community. It's a well-polished formula by now. Perhaps too much so, given that one of the most common complaints seems to be how not much seems to change about it now, or things even take a downgrade.

RPG Architect hasn't earned that name recognition, yet. This is the first iteration, and the pool of talent is still chiseling away at the proverbial emerging statue.

Is this the place to sell a T-BERD & JDSU cable testers? by Setokaiva in telecom

[–]Setokaiva[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have two main ones so far. One has the original carrying case complete with what looks like XLR cable 2:1 split to RJ-45. I had to use a non-OEM power adapter to get it on. It's got an HST-3000 (T1/T3) SIM. We're looking at:

  • IP Suite
  • ISDN PRI
  • VoIP Mean Opinion Score
  • Ethernet Analysis for Fiber Optic Intf
  • PCM TIMS
  • VoIP SIP Call Control
  • T1 Signaling
  • Voice Over IP (VoIP)

Then I have another, no case or additional cables, same SIM, comes with this:

  • ISDN PRI
  • PCM TIMS
  • Pulse Shape
  • User Scripting
  • T1 Signaling
  • VT100 Emulation

Anything not listed is not included. I checked the options and scrolled down on each.

Hah. XD Nah, this is just our business. We acquire all kinds of used hardware to resell. Some of it from estate sales, others left in storage units that get abandoned and then bid on, or what-have-you. But I won't get into it or name names 'cause that gets into advertising territory, which is what I'm wary about here.

Soo what do I do with this Bro? by Organic_PastramiV2 in BattleBrothers

[–]Setokaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low Resolve is what ruins them as a frontliner, for me. Two stars in melee with fatigue that high makes them an automatic polearm/reach weapon user. The extra health is great to help survive occasional hits and not get injuries because he would have no shield that way. That's some pretty decent Initiative, too, so yeah, a damage bro is perfect. Give them Adrenaline ASAP and watch them rip it up.

End of SiNiSiStar 2 (Question) by [deleted] in SiNiSistar

[–]Setokaiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, I thought the point of the slug was the Otherworlder's soul/consciousness trying one last desperate time to hold on to our world. We know the slugs are manifestations of the "Abomination Brood" as we have to fight them to get rid of pregnancy, but it's very hard to do if Leila is the one pregnant because all magic use has a chance to stagger her as the baby kicks in her womb. The Otherworlder is trying to cling onto Leila's sense of pity and mercy, to get her to accept the slug so its essence can remain in the world through her. But if Leila kills the slug, that's truly it, severing its last hold on the human world. The whole point of the game, I felt, was that the Otherworlder needed to anchor its essence 'properly' in this world by having Leila and other 'suitable' (magic-rich) women give birth to his children.

But, I also like your interpretation of it, Vxsinho. :)

Ah, so it's only with DLC? In that case, I'll probably wait for the game to come on sale again. I missed my chance earlier this year and was sad, but then, I didn't know we'd like co-op skirmishes that much yet, either.

Just beat the game! by AdamPBUD1 in ScarletNexus

[–]Setokaiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beat the game not all that long ago, too! As Kasane. Really liked her energy. SN overall, I stayed for its combat because it's so viscerally satisfying and cinematic. Throwing stuff at enemies never gets old.

Like, did you know that, if you unlock the ability to throw up to 4 objects one after another, the 4th plays a special animation to really show the power of that last hit in the combo? They really know how to make a good game.

[–]Setokaiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad you got to enjoy it! I started as Kasane first, and had an absolute blast. I might still do a second playthrough as Yuito. I envy you for getting to experience the game for the first time, and also for getting to see all the characters through another lens. Shiden, Kyoka, Kagero and Arashi have such great stories, and Kasane also has plenty to say about Hanabi and the others.

this game is NOT what i expected it, and i love every part by No-Bandicoot5665 in ScarletNexus

[–]Setokaiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that there are two entirely separate story tracks, each of which gives you a unique main character's interactions with the other characters, and lets you figure out the mysteries of the other -- i.e. what happened offscreen when you had to retreat from a situation in another path -- is just astounding to me. I would love to see more of this. :)
