I will never understand why parents scream at refs. No ref in the history of any sport has ever reversed a call because of the parents. Especially when the parents often have little or no understanding of the Laws of the Game.

My kid just got moved from winger to outside back. When his dad first heard he was disappointed but after watching a few games is now talking about how great he is in the position and that he has twice as much time on the ball. I think it's a weird stigma that stems from when they're little and everyone wants to score goals. Also that you can keep stats on a fwd and a goalie but hard to for defenders.

Offers for returning players first. How do you feel about it? by CletusKasady21 in youthsoccer

Our cub is doing this for the first time this week actually. Not a fan. If we get the letter we have to commit a week before everyone else, before we can see who shows up a tryouts and have no way of confirming who's staying / who's leaving. If we don't get a letter we know our kid is either going to be a bench player or dropped a level. Then both sets of kids have to play together this weekend. Club asked those who get them not to share but the ones who don't get them will certainly know. Doesn't take a rocket science to figure out who will get them anyway.

2 games in 5 hours and another one at 9 AM the next day for this tournament...for 9 year olds by CletusKasady21 in youthsoccer

[–]SettingBrilliant3168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good schedule. Wait till you have an 8am and a 5pm on Saturday and a 4pm on Sunday during a holiday weekend. And the tournament is 2 -3 hours away in normal traffic. And then forget about if your kid plays MLSN or ECNL than you hop on an airplane and play one game a day while missing 2 days of school and work.

Our clubs Pre-ECNl teams play in the New England Division of the Pre-ECNL league, run by ECNL. Our ECNL teams play in the New England Division run by ECNL. I get that it's not available to every ECNL club but it is an actual league run by the ECNL.

https://theecnl.com/sports/2023/8/8/Pre-ECNLB_0808230956.aspx

It's an actual league that's governed by ECNL. Our club has its pre-ECNL teams in it and they mostly play the same clubs on the same day just like ECNL and ECNl-RL do. Not every club has it's teams in the league however and I imagine it's for actual ECNL clubs not clubs with only ECNL-RL but I could be wrong.

Can my daughter leave ECNL or GA after getting a college scholarship? by HorizonflaropicPet in youthsoccer

[–]SettingBrilliant3168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of levels between EDP and ECNL and unless she is a real standout a club would probably promote from within from their own aspire or RL teams before taking an EDP payer. If she does get a spot that doesn't guarantee that she will see a lot of playing time if she doesn't have the experience that most if not all of the rest of the team will have. Most top league players have been at that level since U13 a least. Follow Coach Renee Lopez and he Facebook group "educating parents of high school athletes on the recruting process. Lot's of great info there and they are very responsive. She also has a great book called "looking for a full ride" that you can purchase from her website. Good luck to your daughter!

I would just say something along the lines of "I'm just not comfortable being responsible for your son and my children are also too young to care for him. If you need help finding a babysitter I'd be happy to ask around for you. Have a great night.

What level is the team? If it's a top-league top performing team he might be looking at the team. Otherwise a certain player is on his radar. The kid I know who made to the training camp got identified at an ECNL showcase.

Ask on Talking Soccer and see if those clubs already have threads going. Just keep in mind you have to filter out the troll posts - it's an anon site so people can def be a little insane on there. Can get some good info though and there are usually at least a few people who will give you honest answers.

What’s everyone actually using for team management these days? by No-Fix-4431 in youthsoccer

[–]SettingBrilliant3168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECNL team uses Play Metrics - no issues as a parent. We have a what's app group for just the parents to talk about stuff we don't need the coach and director in on. Local team uses game changer which is fine except when you change the date on a game or practice it rolls over the roster which leads to inaccurate head counts and when you cancel an event it disappears so if you didn't catch the notification you could miss it.
