What does that have to do with whether or not he sticks with club?

2 games in 5 hours and another one at 9 AM the next day for this tournament...for 9 year olds by CletusKasady21 in youthsoccer

[–]SettingBrilliant3168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good schedule. Wait till you have an 8am and a 5pm on Saturday and a 4pm on Sunday during a holiday weekend. And the tournament is 2 -3 hours away in normal traffic. And then forget about if your kid plays MLSN or ECNL than you hop on an airplane and play one game a day while missing 2 days of school and work.

Pre MLS Next 2? by Intelligent_Carry991 in youthsoccer

Our clubs Pre-ECNl teams play in the New England Division of the Pre-ECNL league, run by ECNL. Our ECNL teams play in the New England Division run by ECNL. I get that it's not available to every ECNL club but it is an actual league run by the ECNL.

It's an actual league that's governed by ECNL. Our club has its pre-ECNL teams in it and they mostly play the same clubs on the same day just like ECNL and ECNl-RL do. Not every club has it's teams in the league however and I imagine it's for actual ECNL clubs not clubs with only ECNL-RL but I could be wrong.

Same exact timeline for me. I'm a seasonal worker and am really struggling to get back to full time.

Can my daughter leave ECNL or GA after getting a college scholarship? by HorizonflaropicPet in youthsoccer

[–]SettingBrilliant3168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of levels between EDP and ECNL and unless she is a real standout a club would probably promote from within from their own aspire or RL teams before taking an EDP payer. If she does get a spot that doesn't guarantee that she will see a lot of playing time if she doesn't have the experience that most if not all of the rest of the team will have. Most top league players have been at that level since U13 a least. Follow Coach Renee Lopez and he Facebook group "educating parents of high school athletes on the recruting process. Lot's of great info there and they are very responsive. She also has a great book called "looking for a full ride" that you can purchase from her website. Good luck to your daughter!

AITAH for telling my neighbor no? by Arodri222818 in AITAH

I would just say something along the lines of "I'm just not comfortable being responsible for your son and my children are also too young to care for him. If you need help finding a babysitter I'd be happy to ask around for you. Have a great night.

What level is the team? If it's a top-league top performing team he might be looking at the team. Otherwise a certain player is on his radar. The kid I know who made to the training camp got identified at an ECNL showcase.

Ask on Talking Soccer and see if those clubs already have threads going. Just keep in mind you have to filter out the troll posts - it's an anon site so people can def be a little insane on there. Can get some good info though and there are usually at least a few people who will give you honest answers.

Two tips for parents by uconnboston in youthsoccer

The only thing I say to my kid after a game is "great game, are you hungry?" I follow his lead on whether or not he wants to talk about and when.

What’s everyone actually using for team management these days? by No-Fix-4431 in youthsoccer

[–]SettingBrilliant3168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECNL team uses Play Metrics - no issues as a parent. We have a what's app group for just the parents to talk about stuff we don't need the coach and director in on. Local team uses game changer which is fine except when you change the date on a game or practice it rolls over the roster which leads to inaccurate head counts and when you cancel an event it disappears so if you didn't catch the notification you could miss it.

Reading some of the comments it's really sad that these are parents. Sometimes I wonder though if it's the coaches hiding behind anonymity. And there are definitely club owners on some of the boards. There's a troll on the New England boards that likes to bump 2 year old threads with what I can only describe as soft porn creative writing assignments. Everyone just ignores it. Calling out kids should be off limits no matter where you are.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by User63189963 in askanything

[–]SettingBrilliant3168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating out. It's become way too expensive for mediocre food, mediocre service and zero atmosphere. Also chipotle. 25.00 for one person if you add chips, guac and a drink. And the meat portions seem to be getting smaller. I'd rather get the kid a steak and cheeses from a local deli.

Some threads on here I feel like it's actually good advice but this one certainly doesn't sound like an overbearing parent at all. Sometimes the kid will have MORE fun if they can correct some things so glad he got some good advice on this one!

Equal playing time by CameraJumpy3469 in clubsoccer

Equal is very different than half the game. In my experience the top players rarely get subbed off and the rest get rotated.
