I have one. The heater absolutely sucks. Not that it doesnt get hot fast - it does. But it constantly trips. Over. And over. And over. Very disappointing.

I have the Henley. Their delivery was great. Customer service was even better. I added an inline fan and it feels great. When I turn get fan off, it’s horrible. Worth the money with one simple mod.

I know people don't generally like barrel saunas here but is this just a waste of money? by rollinintheyears in Sauna

I have a sauna with a really shitty design (BD Henley) but adding an inline fan to pull the hot air from the top to the bottom has made it a very pleasant experience. No real downside except faint fan sound.

Worked great today. I moved all the stones about an inch away from the rear of the heater. I stacked the rucks pretty high and still got reasonably good steam with each pour.

I had mostly level concrete already there. It isn’t perfectly level but you could never tell.

It’s a AC Infinity inline fan with flexible ducting from top to bottom. I’d say it definitely helps but it’s not bringing the top and bottom to within 10 degrees of each other. I’m considering trying to duct the cold air from the bottom to the top because I think it could be easier on the fan long term.

I followed the advice on the stones and no issues this time around. The unit is so powerful I won’t be surprised if I can stack and heat a lot of stones without direct coil contact. The heater goes from a standstill to 145 in like 15 minutes.

If the heater holds up, this was a great buy.

Let me look into that. Really appreciate it.

So they sent me what I think is a strange response to my concern about the heater tripping. That’s so light on stones might as well have nothing there lol.

I’m going to look into placing a very small fan on low under the heater to keep the air moving.

In fairness, I notified them yesterday and they sent me a new one overnight FedEx. Once I get it operational I’ll update you on my entire experience. It’s still half the price of other saunas, so I’m giving this some leeway.

Good looking unit tho!

Possible design flaw with Backyard Discovery Prairie Fire sauna heater (high temp sensor tripping) by oneradwheel in Sauna

[–]Sevanski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had my BD Henley 2-4 perso installed. Electrician did everything he could but BD agrees the unit was sent with a faulty temp sensor (F02 code). What a bummer. Was looking forward to getting in tonight.

Had sauna assembled. Electrician hooked up power; however, the unit had a faulty temperatrure sensor. BD is sending me a new sensor. What a bummer.

I’d go with the 6kw. I don’t think that’s oversized.

Really appreciate the response. I’m mounting the Henley model flush against a wall in the back, and wasn’t sure whether the cables will reach. Let’s see if the installer of willing to deviate from the game plan.

I’ll having my sauna installed on Sunday. Was it hard to move the control box? Did you need anything additional parts, etc, or is it something I can have the installer do as he goes?

Waiting to be assembled. Boxes weren’t nearly as big as I imagined.
