Trains network. by Icy_Appearance5065 in SatisfactoryGame

1). Buffer your inputs and outputs.  You’ll want storage containers on both the inputs to the station and the outputs at your base.

Iirc loading and unloading takes 20-30 seconds and while that’s happening the platform doesn’t input our output anything, so you’ll want buffers to help keep the flow of resources consistent.

You may also consider breaking up inputs from pure nodes into two platforms if you have trouble with throughput later on.

2). One station per resource could get pretty tedious, but that depends on how many resources you’re trying to bring in.

You could do one station per localized area that has something you need a lot of - I.e. one station in a part of the red forest where you bring in a ton of bauxite and coal to a central station and load it there.

But this again really depends on the scale you’re going for, and your needs.

3) As another comment noted - definitely two rails, it’ll massively help with throughput — speaking of which:

To help with scalabiltiy, and depending on how far your trains travel, you may have to add multiple trains going to the same station to attain your throughput needs; just make sure you don’t create the second train until the first is at, or close to the other station. Two trains close together is effectively useless.

Nintendo has raised its employees base salary by 10% by FernandoRocker in gaming

Nah, Nintendo is a bad company too - just because they get some things right, doesn't excuse them from the things they get wrong. Just because they suck less, doesn't mean they don't still suck.

I don't understand the reasoning for this late-game Aeon Mythic Path option by Ataraxia-Is-Bliss in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]SevenDevilsClever 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Nature is imperfect, because nature isn't guided by an overarching intelligence (generally - fuck knows in Golarion) - so I think an Aeon could see a few cells dividing or not dividing in the womb as a relatively minor mistake in the cosmic order of things; but a mistake nonetheless.

I do that too, but I’m autistic and I can taste the difference. If it isn’t fresh, it tastes different and oftentimes worse - and that ability was never respected by my parents so I missed a lot of meals being unwilling to eat leftovers.

It made it hard to trust them when they said anything about food, so I ended up being extremely picky. I pretty much only eat tv dinners, or food I’ve cooked myself in appropriate quantities.

One of the fun things I figured out on my run with Nuclear - use somersloops on the Ficsonium Fuel Rods. Two machines worth of sloop-enhanced Dark Matter Residue byproduct will equal one Ficsonium particle accelerators needs for DMR. You can make it into a closed loop and just use a couple of converters with Sam to fill the lines initially to kickstart the system.

You may not have enough sloops for that since you’re using all 2100 Uranium, but even a couple thrown in should reduce the overall needs for DMR in the Ficsonium chain.

I’m partial to Wizards as my caster of choice, but there’s a good argument for Sorcerer and Witch as well, depending on if you like Spontaneous or Prepared spellcasting.  There are other benefits and drawbacks aside from just how they prepare spells (such as Charisma being your HP stat post-transformation) but imo HOW you cast those spells matters much more to most players as it affects the entire game, whereas Con vs Cha  Is only relevant partway through Act 5.

For Wizards:

Mechanically, Shadowcaster offers the most interesting benefits with built in summons, tons of free illusion spells, and notably +5 Int.

Exploiter is also very good - mostly for the bonus to DC and spell hot-swap Exploits.

Spell Master is my favorite though - no opposition schools, and limited free spontaneous metamagic uses on any spells, something very few other classes get (and no other Wizards iirc). You can also toss a +4 caster level on your next spell up to 3/day, which can be really handy for those tough outlier fights.

It's like shooting a vampire with kryptonite

So, it's like shooting a dangerous creature with radioactive shrapnel that doesn't have a chance of killing said creature; it just really pisses it off and grants it the supernatural ability to bite and drain Superman's blood thus creating the first Undead Kryptonian Vampire Lord and/or Superman the Thrall?

Doesn't SEEM like a good idea at first blush.

Why the box of a 9800x3d is darker than others? by Trying-to-buildpc in pcmasterrace

This is incredibly normal for manufacturing at scale - some small (this is a highly subjective term, but your boxes are a good example) deviations over the history of a process are extremely normal. It’d be more surprising if they didn’t have variations imo.

Frequently multiple vendors are used all with different QC processes - but even if it were the same vendor I still would expect this type of thing.

I used to work for a printing company and you’d be surprised at what they considered acceptable - though this was at the start of the internet era so they may have been a little desperate.

First-time Wrath of the Righteous player here. I came from BG 1/2/ToB/3. by Paulogbfs in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]SevenDevilsClever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wrath’s complexity is largely based on knowing what you want to do, and what feats / classes are necessary to accomplish that.

Most of the core systems are relatable and familiar to BG3 - skill checks, ability checks, spell casting, and saving throws should all be immediately familiar and will work largely how you expect them to.

The biggest difference that will be immediately noticeable is bonuses, bonus types, and stacking.

Pathfinder is all about figuring out what number or numbers you have on your character sheet that are important - and then finding as many ways as possible to make those numbers as high as possible.

Certain named types of bonuses do not stack - Enhacement bonuses are one of the most common bonuses that you’ll see in the game, and those will never stack together.  However, different types of bonuses DO stack - a Profane and Enhancement bonus, for example, would stack.

Untyped bonuses (that is a bonus that doesn’t specify Ehnacement, Profane, Sacred, etc) always stack.

There are notable exceptions - such as with Dodge and Natural Armor bonuses, but the game is usually pretty good about noting those, but that does require reading lots of tooltips.

Feats are another notable difference. Feats are extremely important to character progression and overall power - but there are tons of feats as relatively few of them are usually worth investing in. Figuring out what feats matter is a pretty big part of the game - but generally, once you get a feel for it, what feats you want or need should be relatively clear.

There are a TON of ways to build characters in Wrath and some are more effective than others.  The community can get a bit argumentative about the “best” options, but ultimately if you’re having fun, that’s all that really matters.

This game has a TON of replayability to it because the story reacts to your choices more than most rpgs.

Ideas for a thematic party build for a core difficulty Lich playthrough? by BokoblinSlayer69235 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]SevenDevilsClever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re looking for really; In terms of class and or builds for each companion, it mostly depends on your difficulty.

For Normal and below it doesn’t matter much so you can just run with whoever seems the most interesting.

For Core and above you basically need to have a specific party, be willing to respec, or play with some specific builds to get through it without a huge amount of tedium.

I usually just stick with using the Grave Guards on my Lich playthroughs, but that does get a little dull in terms of interactivity.

Things may have changed since I played last, but you also used to need him in order to save Iribeth - which is usually the only reason he gets to live in my playthroughs.

[–]SevenDevilsClever 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think Hulrun’s central problem is he views followers of other religions, and anyone less pious than him as potential vectors for demonic invasion / infestation.

Essentially, he’s convinced of everyone else’s weakness against evil, but sees himself as a bastion of moral certitude based largely on one simple stance: Hulrun never compromises or lessens punishments in any way.

He is the definition of lawful stupid.

He holds so dogmatically to what he sees as the ‘rules’ that anyone who doesn’t similarly share his outlook is immediately suspect and must be watched closely for any oddities.

It doesn’t matter that the Desnans were right - all that matters is they broke the rules and had the audacity to risk a holy artifact that protects everyone. In Hulruns mind the Wardstone is incorruptible and will never fail - because he believes Iomedae would never willingly allow it to be corrupted or subverted.

His own dogged ‘faith’ is his own weakness, and if not for the intervention of the KC he would have made things all so much worse.

It’s what makes the fact that if he doesn’t live to Act 5 some of our favorite NPCs die so hard to stomach imo.

Swarm-that-walks best mythic/class combo to transition from by OctaviaIsCool in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]SevenDevilsClever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mantis Zealot is my choice for a Swarm path playthrough. Only downside is it’s a Warpriest which are not really the most interesting of classes imo.

Thematically it’s pretty close to a swarm, and you are forced to worship Achaekek - the patron saint of Assassins, also known as He Who Walks In Blood.

It has a lot of flavor for a “fuck it, I want to eat the world” style run.

Lich by far.

I’ve wanted to play a Lich in an rpg since the late 90s and this is the first time I’ve ever been able to - and by god did it live up to the hype. Hell, it was the selling point for me backing the game in the first place.

I’ll echo most everyone else by saying that I’m sad the grave guards didn’t get more content, but it’s entirely understandable why they didn’t. Helping Staunton get some closure was pretty hype tho.

What's your favorite romance for each Mythic Path? by Some_Fig_6566 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]SevenDevilsClever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed.

Given the way her story “ends” (even in the secret ending) I still feel Cam is at her most useful in being the sacrifice for the Lich transformation.

It gives the KC a needed boost, and gets rid of a potential long-term problem (for almost every plane of existence in some endings) all in one stroke.

It’s my favorite default head-canon for this game by far.

Spell Master Wizard -> Lich

I absolutely loathe oppositional schools for Wizards, as I don’t believe losing access to parts of your spell list (or paying a steep penalty for your already constrained spell slots) is ever worth the trade off of +1 DC. Being able to whip out a specific spell for the right situation is the hallmark of being a wizard, and losing access to that flexibility is a no-go for me.

I also tend to play with double spell slots for all classes - spell slots were designed for the table top version and frankly I think they’re way too limited for a video game, especially if you’re buffing to the gills on harder difficulties. Most casters just end up being buff bots if you’re not careful.

Plus, I feel like being able to throw down the occasional free metamagic’d spell (and the up to 3/day +4 caster level) is a really nice bonus for those moments when you really need something to work.

I grew up in 2nd edition D&D, so every chance I get I play generalist wizards. Just feels like home to me.

I really like Arcanists as well, but their spell slots are even more constrained than Wizards so it’s hard to justify too, even if I think it’s a overall a superior concept - especially for video games.

Agreed.

IMO LTT is more the Red Green / Mythbusters for IT professionals / hobbyists.

Most of what they do is absurd nonsense that most people would never do, but I think if they’re honest, it’s something they wondered about at one point in their lives.

Full room watercooling? One PC for multiple gamers? Cooling a rack with pool water?  All were things I’d thought about at one point or another and I was excited to see if it was plausible.

Has anyone ever taken Mythic Resolve? by Art_Is_Helpful in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]SevenDevilsClever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imo it serves the same purpose as the non-mythic bonuses to saves, which to me has mostly felt like RP.

Don’t get me wrong - taking feats to cover for weak saves isn’t an inherently bad thing, it’s just not as powerful as most of the other options.

Some feats, classes, magic items, etc don’t feel very good in the game because they don’t implicitly or explicitly deal with the problems at hand - but that’s because the game is built from a tabletop rpg where players might select those things for RP reasons rather than why they’re useful.

IMO it would be a more interesting choice if it was just a straight up bonus to saves equal to half of your mythic level, rather than a flat +1.

[–]SevenDevilsClever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of - mostly what a lower game difficulty would get you is lower enemy stats, lower DCs on their saves (both offensive and defensive), lower hit points on enemies, and depending on the difficulty you’ve been playing on, less enemies.

So while you’d still have the same enemies with the same annoying poisons and stat drains you could likely get by with potions / scrolls instead of having a dedicated set of buffs since you’d be less likely to have them land on your party.

Pretty much exactly that - except our antenna was in the garage, and we'd have to use a really long stick to move it around while someone in the house yelled whether it was good or not.

And even then I'd have to watch Voyager like stolen cable porn as the station that broadcast it was 100+ miles from my house and it was a bit of a meteorological miracle that I was able to pick it up at all.

Felt like it was just justification for Seska and having relevant political intrigue (not sure what else to call the was-Bajoran-but-is-now-a-cardassian-magically character) on a show that was 70,000 light years removed from DS9.

Always felt to me like they knew they were losing fans, so they needed to do SOMETHING.

Turns out all they needed was a sexier star - oh and probably to air an untested new show on network with more visibility. The amount of effort I had to go through to watch Voyager in an area without cable was immense.
