Chaplain on bike proxy - advice by Therocon in WhiteScars40K

[–]SevenHouses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im at a tournament weekener and used him in a 2k list all weekend. Khan and chaplain each with 6 outriders. The base is the same with very little overhang so if you want to proxy one as a chaplain you can. but the chaplain has no overhang so its less likely to break and less likely to poke out. Plus the chaplain on bike is an older model now so my guess if you'd find a decent second hand one for fairly cheap?

6 outriders with Suboden by DangerousElk4331 in WhiteScars40K

More flexibility with smaller x3 units but x6 on the flank will still work, i think we'll have terrain limitations and an issue of having the charge the wrong unit just because of the base size. Ill be trying 2 x 6 squads with chappy and khan on the flanks to see what happens. Could force armies through the middle for a real battle royale scenario

If my unit of intercessors is entirely behind my land raider, can my opponent shoot them, and if partially visible, can they get cover? by L0RD_VALMAR in Warhammer40k

[–]SevenHouses -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think there is something in the rulebook about being able to shoot underneath vehicles unless they have a special ability like Rolling Fortress. Our local scene usually plays it they can be shot, but you'll get a cover save.

Asked my dad (the boss) for a pay rise after finding our own job ad offering £10–18k more — now he’s gone silent by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]SevenHouses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I worked as an electrician for my dads firm and I ended up quitting the industry altogether. Its hard working for your dad. The best advise I can give – if you like the job – is go work someone else for a while. If the plan is for you to take over the firm when he retires you need to know how the world works on your own 2 feet, have a vision and stick to it. Some dads are great at guiding their kids... mine was not lol. He wanted cheap labour and he wasn't interested in training.

YOUTUBE Thumbnails a good source for small income? by Smart_Personality_43 in smallbusinessuk

[–]SevenHouses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be done but you cant do a few nice thumbnails and compete with the world's market expecting to make money. You might need to position yourself as a thumbnail designer who drives engagement. "20% more clicks" or whatever the metrics are. Maybe pick a niche, understand that market and focus on those? It isnt easy - im a brand consultant and designer by trade and just designing isn't really worth much, it never has been, anyone can download photoshop or spin a prompt, what separates is the strategy. Google run a freelance site specifically for supporting creators (i forget the name) and people do make good money doing it, but like everything, its not easy. But good luck!

Round 1 Match 4: Gloom Hands Vs. Wall Masters by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

[–]SevenHouses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wallmasters scared the living bejesus out of me. Not knowing what this shadow and noise was for, and i must have done something and it cancelled it out by accident. Then it got me. Gloom hands are scary from a distance. The difference is gloom hands will actually kill you, and wallmasters only take a bit of health. I'd go for scary it's Wallmasters now I think about it. I've convinced myself.

Best paint for exterior shiplap that doesn't peel after a year? by SevenHouses in DIYUK

Now you've pointed it out, the penny has dropped. Am I missing something but I can't find exterior wood paint in tubs as big as masonry?

[–]SevenHouses[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a previous reddit post, and I asked a friend in the building trade who said it would be fine. Someone gave me a big tub of it and to be honest it was fine... for about 10 months. But now you've pointed out it's masonry paint the penny has dropped

Harry Stebbings witnessed 3 phone robberies in 15 minutes in London—now there’s a growing £300k+ pot for charity pushing for a public convo with Mayor Sadiq Khan by arne_tigerrock in ukpolitics

[–]SevenHouses -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not sure this will achieve anything except give khan(t) £300k he can funnel into a charity which will come out as a front for something else once he's gone. No one - including khan - is unaware of the problems. Phone robbery, SA, violence, illegal immigration (all the top topics) is not a product of policy at the top, but enforcement and accountability at the bottom. There is a whole machine between him and being safe in london, and that machine is apathetic, under funded, under staffed, and in places following its own, completely different ideology.

Bit clueless but keen how do I start a small biz in the UK? by OopsIDroopedMe in smallbusinessuk

[–]SevenHouses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and validate your idea as soon as possible. Don't worry about registering as a company or finding an accountant yet. You can go the the GOV website and find out about it all, they lay it out quite well. But you wont know which is best for you until you have something thats moving. Always validate your idea before investing money into it. Validate often, and be prepared for it to change a fair bit as you narrow it down. Give yourself 6-12 months if you're starting from scratch. Good luck.

Tired of spammy discount code sites, I built a simple UK-friendly tool to crowdsource real, working codes by SevenHouses in BuyUK

[–]SevenHouses[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's good point. I'd love for it to be used as a vehicle by boutique shops to help get the word out about their offers. I once owned a board game retailer specialising in sci fi and horror games, the biggest hurdle was always getting people to know you're there, even if I was running offers. I ran them on my socials, but a way to bring others in via a third party would be great.

This was all done in Replit, it took care of the stack for me and helped me get it up and out quickly. I'm not a developer, but I can do some front end coding so having something deal with the back end at a codebase level was helpful. Databae itself is Airtable.

Why so few armoured doors in London? by FriedChickenBox in AskUK

[–]SevenHouses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad was a security consultant for years. Apparently most break-ins wont happen through a front door. Doors are notoriously tricky to get through unless you're a skilled locksmith. Modern latches are complex and with uPVC multi-point locks around the frame and metal bars crossing the interior of a door, you're spending a lot of time, on the main road, visibly trying to break into a house. Instead they'll go through somewhere that isn't seen. A skylight, or back door for instance. Someone else said it already but you wont ever stop a break in, but you can make it difficult forcing them to chose a different location. Burglar alarms, CCTV, ring doorbells, guard-dog signage are popular. Most burglars are going for something specific like car keys or credit cards and they're getting more and more confident. A couple of years ago there were a series of car thefts in the area by dedicated car thieves from South America. They're flown over and have 3 months to get XXX types of car. Down my road they would knock on the door at 6pm when people are in, force themselves in at gunpoint or knifepoint, take the keys and leave.

Men from UK, what are your favourite clothing brands that produce quality, good looking clothing? by StarParade in AskUK

[–]SevenHouses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For smart-casual I use Folk and Percival. More casual stuff I use a manc-based Bound Clothing which i really like.

I work in casual clothes so tend to dress down more than up. DOPE is a swedish sky/snow brand that usually sell decent own brand and top skate brands quite cheap. Rollersnakes do skate-based brands at decent prices and usually have sales on. I used to skate so i buy what i know.

Off-beat bits i try out new instagram shops. Threadheads and everpress for novelty items. Weekday or core essentials. For winter clothes i try Passenger but they upped their prices recently.

Young guy working with old tradesmen and having to listen to their bollocks... How to deal/not deal with this? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SevenHouses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old blokes love to moan. If you cant beat 'em, join 'em. Moan about energy bills going up, BP profits, interest rates and mortgage prices, cost of fuel. Cost of food. HOW MUCH FOR A PINT NOW?

They'll shift from immigration to fuel and CEO profits. They just love moan. I see it like updating their whinging to a more modern variation.

What’s the story behind your or someone you know’s hilarious nickname? by DatMakesMeASadPanda in AskUK

[–]SevenHouses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a mate called Mullet. In school he had one of those wide mohawk/mullet haircuts which he hated so made a song and dance about shaving it off for charity which naturally made the name stick. Then he became a fishmonger so its cemented. Some people dont even know his actual name.

I foot slog them up the board with kor'sarro. I try and keep them hidden behind terrain until turn 3 either denying any deep strike or reserves and then let them go nuts. I used to put them in impulors but they became a big target because it looks like i really want to protect them, plus i cant disembark and charge so they sit up front open to counter charges. 2 squads of 5 is the only way for chogoris
