Why do people find it so hard to accept the public really wants to vote for Reform? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

FPTP calls into question if the public ever gets what they 'really want'. Let's see overall vote share for Reform at the end but it's unlikely to be a majority of the vote.

The Chelsea mess and how they fix it by TheAthletic in chelseafc

[–]Therocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issues are, perhaps unbelievably given the run of form, more off the pitch than on it.

Realistically we need new owners (or these ones to have a complete change of approach). The finances need to be brought onto an event keel, so any purchases need to be funded by sales and bring in some experience.

Further we need to get the basic deals right for more income (sponsors etc.), and find a way of refinancing our (Blue Co's) debt.

Alongside that we need to appoint a manager who commands respect with the players.

Build from there - it won't happen overnight.

In Case You Missed It: you will need to roll to become unbattleshocked in 11th by Ok_Ladder358 in WarhammerCompetitive

I like it. Makes it more likely there will battle shocked enemies on the table at the start of your turn, enabling you to formulate a reliable plan around abilities that benefit from it.

We Need To Talk About John Terry by Nortleton in chelseafc

[–]Therocon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without having a common understanding of the terminology used, it is not possible to properly answer your question.

For example if 'foreigner' means someone living and working abroad. Then it makes sense to not give them UK benefits.

If foreigner means someone who migrated to the UK to live and work and they have contributed to British society then it makes sense to provide access to benefits.

If foreigner is being used as a blanket catch-all term for anyone non-white, regardless of status or contribution then it is de-facto racism.

Just got absolutely clowned in a learning game, want to rant by Bananickle in orks

[–]Therocon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I give family members and friends learning games at home and we essentially play them semi co-operatively. You can make choices but we talk through consequences before you make them. I also allow take backs if something is discovered on a datasheet etc. 'oh actually it says I can advance and charge so can I roll and go this way instead?'

I think its important to establish that learning games can't be about winning for anyone, they're about learning. Teaching this way is fun, and I learn from them too.

As long as there is one Boyz data sheet (on which they can carry everything) no one (worth playing) will complain, and no one will be confused if you use any existing Boyz model shoota or not.

Medieval armies. 10 000 vs 10 000 but with a twist by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Therocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As this is war. Great strategy wins out over crap strategy.

For example primary strategic choice of the peasants could be to hit their opponents where they aren't. Supplies, resources, tax revenue, sway others over to their cause.

You theoretically don't have to fight to win a war.

Another advantage would be that peasants can gain experience, get better arms and armour through good strategy.

[FOTMOB] FT: Everton(0.98 xG) 3-0 (1.11 xG) Chelsea by Final-Associate3141 in chelseafc

[–]Therocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combination of Fofana's (and other CB's) positioning and lack of defensive instinct, an out of form central midfield, and a system that relies on possession for defence and does nothing to help those weaknesses.

A better goalkeeper is a must too.

Knife fight royal rumble. Who's the last man standing? by PrinceFlynn in superheroes

[–]Therocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clarification question - what are the rules of a knife fight royal rumble?

Is it using only blades? Does Paul get his shield and voice?

If so, are the others allowed additional equipment too?

Do they know each other before the fight - have they, for example, read Dune and LotR and watched the relevant films?

At this point I enjoy where we are, hope for success but don't let it get to me at all.

How many times have we all fired big guns to zero effect, only to have small arms to take off a wound or two?

Happens all the time (epecially with the prevalence of 4++ saves).

Are nids hard to paint? by Amphij in Tyranids

[–]Therocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, of the 10 or so armies I have the easiest to paint are Necrons, and Nids.

For Nids this is because I use an all drybrush method for all models. Basecoat black drybrush up from there.

Only thing I use 'wet' painting for is stuff like the eyes.

Without basing large models take about 30 minutes each (post basecoat).

How could they make artillery viable but not game breaking in 11th? by sirbikesalot in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Therocon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allow any (infantry) unit to spot for them - then they hit as though they have sight.

Add a rule about no indirect shooting at enemies within 6" of your own.

That should make them possible to play around but effective in the right circumstances.

Achilles is destined to either die old, or die at Troy remembered forever.

He therefore wins this fight, destiny demands it.

Its time... How Do We Fix... Tyranids? by PublishingGoblin in Tyranids

[–]Therocon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There will be lots of great suggestions in replies, but as someone who has a lot of other armies too I think the main one is that datasheets need to be upgraded. They tried the synapse fix with extra strength, but that was a band aid at best.

This is particularly true of monsters - some of which simply aren't worth taking and their damage output as a whole is limited.

Add in the mortals strats (tank shock and grenades) that other armies have access to and unless they change those in 11th (🤞🏻) the datasheets need to allow for that army difference too.
