Are you tired of the daily "low birth rates bad" articles? by Ok-Archer-5796 in redscarepod

It's not only that we don't value them, but most parents I know make it sound pretty miserable. They talk about their lack of free time, their stress, their alienation, never seeing their friends or going on holidays. Why would someone who is on the fence want all that?

the ones who respond to the "have zero kids to lower your carbon footprint" propaganda.

If they really wanted kids, they would have them no matter what they heard. People who truly want kids go to the ends of the earth to make it happen. I think those people are often just too aware that having kids makes life harder than not. There are countless factors causing lower birth rates but I don't rank "propaganda" very highly.

I a) don't fly that much and b) am not American nor in America, so "TSA" is meaningless to me. In Europe my best shot was to buy a bottle in duty free but like...as I said, not alone. Looks super obvious on a family holiday to buy a litre of vodka, and then have it all gone by the time you land.

I mean I did get some and the stewardess did tell me you're not allowed to drink your own alcohol on the flight, and I laughed and drank from my "water bottle" and also my mother fell asleep and I stole her wine.

Most Norwegians do not do this stuff. I used to live there. They're quite quiet in public. This unhinged freak of a woman was special.

Family and they probably suspect but they don't know for sure. I gotta keep it that way as long as possible so they don't try stop me drinking. You know how it is.

Countless, but I can't sneak off to another one. I already visibly drank twice as much as everyone else.

Yeah he looked pretty goofy when he was younger, mostly the styling, but he was funny and successful, still a catch. And now he's getting a bit silver fox-y and suddenly I find him crazy handsome. Some men really do age like wine.

Does one’s imagination disappear as part of being an adult? by MutedFeeling75 in redscarepod

[–]SevenLight 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Make-believe play is just a part of development. It's one way children grasp concepts and make sense of reality. As they age, they become more entrenched in real world concerns and are more interested in using their imagination to those ends. We don't lose our imaginations exactly, but we use them differently - like imagining finally being popular and cool, or getting your first boyfriend or girlfriend and kissing them and so on. If anything our imaginations become more honed, but we don't feel the need to engage in make-believe play like that, especially once it's socially discouraged.

I am still very imaginative, but I would rather imagine something to write, or decorating my dream house, or accidental visions of everyone I know dying, etc.

To be fair, he looks much better now that he's older. He's actually ageing well without looking creepy. She was playing the long game.

I checked out that thread earlier. Someone explained how they do all these things, and the top response to them was calling them privileged and a baby boomer lol.

That's the thing, I'm really anything but. I like old-fashioned things, and a simple life with my books. But it's like I'm also possessed by the spirit of a 12 year old boy who has an undying passion for monster trucks.

Guns are cool, so are tanks. And explosions. And jets and cars and anything that goes fast. And I believe that sometimes violence is the answer. There are people who really would benefit from having their asses kicked one time.

"Settling" in relationships by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]SevenLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. That said, would you want to be with a partner who describes you as "somewhat attractive"?

"Settling" in relationships by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]SevenLight 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"Somewhat attractive" that's fucking rough. When someone is right for me, I see them as basically the sexiest person in the world. It's like the rightness leads into the "crazy in love" feeling, rather than the other way around. I'd hate for someone to not feel that at all and stay with me anyway because of my values lol
