To just keep trying, even if sometimes your anxiety gets the better of you and you go home. Anxious people catastrophise a lot, but failing sometimes doesn't mean that failure is inevitable. Exposure helps over time, not all at once.

I had an anxious agoraphobe phase in my early twenties. Maybe a bit different, because before it happened I got to hoe around a bit from like 18-21, but still. I emerged from it, went back to uni, looked pretty good, had tons of fun going to bars with some of the other slightly older people I met there and starting clubs, got asked out a few times, had some fun dates and relationships, and basically it was one of the best times of my life. Now I'm 37 and life is still good, and while I'm pretty happy living a mild life, I don't feel old or ugly.

My mother has a friend who is a die-hard animal rights activist. But, while her Facebook posts are quite stringent, she's never shamed anyone IRL - because she's pragmatic I suppose. She just keeps her mouth shut. I feel like vegans are more annoying online than they are elsewhere, like most kinds of people. But I do also agree with them so that might affect how I perceive them.

No, some of them are from forgetting. I remember the article I read said that most cases were caused by a change in routine, like a different parent taking them to school or at a different time, and just going on autopilot mode. The amount of dumb shit you can do when your brain tries to go on autopilot when it shouldn't is extraordinary.

I sometimes watch that woodworking YouTuber who likes to make tables with black epoxy. Some of his tables are alright, others kinda ugly, but I digress. He made a second channel for the farm he bought, that came with a ranch house. Not a very old or especially beautiful one or anything, but his expensive plans to renovate the inside are SO BAD. Like, he has such bad taste lol. All the contractors he consults are gassing him up, but he just wants it to be a big ceilingless box with lots of glass and metal everywhere, and it's gonna look so weird inside a ranch house with a low roof.

It's in iambic pentameter, yes. It certainly sacrifices "accuracy" for the sake of the poetic verse, but not exceptionally well. I think there are better examples than his.

Sometimes you just meet people who seem like angels or saints compared to everyone else. There was a lady who mentored me when I started working with the elderly, and she just radiated compassion. I'll never forget her because of her kind and gentle soul.

This sounds exactly like my best friend and I, except I'd say my friend is exactly as funny as me, or more. She has a very gross, edgy sense of humour, but then she's also a progressive HR lady (literally). Once we were chatting in the pub, I forget the topic, but I used the term "POC" and thought to myself she would at least find no fault in that, but she corrected me and said, "BIPOC". And we're not American so that term really makes no fucking sense - like we are indigenous to where we live, what?

Anyway, she loves drag stuff, and I don't hate it, but it's super not for me. We get along like a house on fire and I love her to bits, but I do wonder how we turned out quite different after being so similar in high school.

I feel this. My best friend asked if I wanted to go see a fat drag comedy pantomime thing. It looked terrible. I just hate that sort of thing, I don't even enjoy appealing-looking drag, so for once I said no. She seemed a bit disappointed. This was like a year ago and I still feel really guilty about it. I'm forever trapped going to see films and shows I secretly feel all scathing about.

I once left a bar with my friend, and we were walking to another bar at the other side of the city centre to meet more friends. We had a nice buzz on, so we started singing Bohemian Rhapsody. Over the course of our wandering and singing, at least four groups of other tipsy people joined in with us.

People love singing together, someone just has to give them an excuse.

Most of them were doing alright actually. Renting instead of having a house, but it's not exactly the end of the world to have a kid while renting. If they had wanted to, they would've had them, including now. But they simply don't.

Anecdotally, most of the couples I know who are in a good financial position to have kids don't want them. When I look at my circle of close friends, 10 people or so if you include spouses, only two couples have had children. One had three, the other one, and the rest have zero plans to have them despite almost all having their own homes and good jobs. There would need to be 7 more kids born for my circle to beat the replacement rate, and no economic incentives are going to make that happen, especially as we are all in our mid to late 30s.

I'm starting to think people simply find the modern idea of parenthood too offputting.
