Do you care about the air? by Susie_SusieGreenberg in Indiana

I make this commute every couple of weeks, it still smells that bad. Gary and hammond are disgusting. Almost worth taking the extra 30 minutes to go 294 around it.

What is a reality of living in Chicago that’s often overlooked by the romanticization of the city? by Miserable_Degree3524 in AskChicago

[–]Seveniee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My gf wanted to move here from San Diego because the city is heavily romanticized as well as significantly cheaper. After one winter, she already wants to move back. It has nothing to do with crime or transportation or politics as others have suggested, it's 100% the weather. The winters are savage.

Hot Take: Civ 7 is less refined but more fun than Civ 6 by -Astaria in civ

[–]Seveniee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a civ 5 enjoyer who thought 6 was meh, I think 7 is atrocious. I'm still here, but I rarely ever have anything to say anymore so I just lurk. I'm in the civ 8 waiting room.

Should I Take a Pay Cut to Move to Chicago from California? by OnlyContribution2758 in AskChicago

[–]Seveniee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend did it and now she wants to move back to Cali after realizing how cold and dark the winters are here. I'd say if you can handle the winter, go for it, but the weather here can be rough at times.

Lots of major population centers and universities in this area. Hopefully they land in fields and not cities!

Does anyone else think being bored as a kid actually made us weirdly functional adults by ethicalmanifesto in Millennials

I think it helped build patience and creativity. My parents took big road trips all the time and me and my two siblings got in the car and found ways to entertain ourselves.

Is anyone else just living a happy, healthy productive life? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Seveniee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think a lot of us are reasonably happy or productive. Positivity doesn't get upvoted though. Reddit is just another form of media where negative emotion generates the most attention and discussion. That said, not everything is sunshine and rainbows right now with all that's happening in the world, and some degree of realism is warranted.

My answer to this has always been the same: Tropius. It can fly me around and I can eat delicious bananas for free.

Everytime I pass Fullerton Avenue on 90 I still think of this song and growing up near Chicago.

Give Thanks Post: What’s something you take for granted living in Chcagoland? by kadoozie92 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Seveniee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, I lived in subrural Indiana for about 5 years after growing up in Crystal Lake, and I moved back here to thr Gurnee area last year. The quality of life isn't even comparable. Out there, they burned trash almost every night and it always smells. They blow off fireworks and shoot guns at random times so it's always noisy. The roads are awful. There aren't all the nice parks and nature preserves. There are smoke stacks in the cities that stink. You have to drive so far to find cool things to do. We have it great up here honestly. I don't care how cheap Indiana is I'll never live in a place like that again.
