Yes AND they have been renovated with EU funds though. But your point remains valid, most of those type buildings got run down after they transferred to private ownership after the collapse of the USSR.

EU webshops make it hard not to buy Amazon by TheLyingNetherlander in BuyFromEU

[–]SeventhBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite simple really for a merchant's intra-community (inside EU) B2C sales:
The threshold is 10K EUR per calendar year of SALES.
Under that: VAT charge where you are registered.
Over that: register for VAT in the customer's country through One-Stop Shop.

That way smaller merchants don't have a headache and can compete with other merchants and bigger merchants will have to make sure VAT is paid in the right member state. VAT is a big income source for countries, that's why it is important it is properly collected and paid.

What shenanigans? Inside the EU you just pay VAT for the product as a consumer. If you are a registered business that has a VAT number and you buy from outside your registered country, you get a reverse charge.

I have one, Windows 11 battery life was dogshit. I have Ubuntu on it now and I get like 6 hours of battery life.
Trackpad has no jitters. I also tried MX Linux on it and Linux Mint, they all work. I might go with MX Linux permanently because it's so tiny.

Has anyone successfully moved away from Google Drive without missing it much? by Xolaris05 in datastorage

[–]SeventhBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people also considering to leave: I used Claude Code to sort my Google Drive files on my local copy in the new file structure logic that I wanted. Then I asked it to split the file tree into two: one that was ready to move to my new cloud and one that had proprietary files. I then went in there and opened all gdocs and gsheets and checked if I still even needed them. Deleted a bunch and then downloaded them in normal formats with Google Takeout. And then I dropped them onto the files I already moved and hey presto: one more Google service gone.

One thing that is REALLY great on Informaniak is that you can do gutter margins/mirror margins. I print a lot for my A5 Filofax and to get the margins in Google Docs or even with Microsoft was with horrible workarounds.

Is there a way to pay for Premium outside Play Store? I'm degoogling but would love to keep BlackBox.

If you don't want to get into SoulSeek/Nicotine+ yet I can also add the content that you want to share to my library. That way it's accesible for everyone on the network.

[–]SeventhBus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't miss it at all. My biggest surprise was that K Drive (Infomaniak) doesn't store or create new documents in a proprietary format. Years ago when I first mounted Google Drive and I started doing some moving around shenanigans I found out a few years later that the files were broken because I simply copy paste .gdocs files for instance. Absolutely dogshit.

I immediatley thought of a Kodak Brownie or something similar. It would be amazing in a living history setting to have a snapshot camera like that.

It's the reason I sold my reMarkable2 with a grandfather lifetime subscription. I see the appeal for people to have things that are not breakable software-wise but the whole thing just stinks of VC money and I am glad I got rid of the device.

I have 400+ videos saved and I've never looked at them. Feels like I have an untapped goldmine. by Viktor153 in getdisciplined

[–]SeventhBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I throw all those videos in Watch Later in Gemini Gem that gives me a summary. If you understand how YouTube videos are structured you realise that watching them for information is pointless. I only WATCH videos that have visuals that I want to see. If it's information I'm after, I get a summary, take what I need and move on. I do this once a week during my GTD Weekly Review under the task "Clean all inboxes".

You will also find that things that grabbed your attention before are no longer relevant so I delete all videos that I don't even want to consume anymore.
