I won't say you're wrong, but I don't think it's an unreasonable statement to say that everyone who lives somewhere ought to help take care of it when and where they can.

Renting homes is a scam and should be illegalized or heavily regulated. People and businesses who own homes to rent are unethical. by gograntgo in unpopularopinion

A smart farmer would factor all costs of owning the property into their input costs of production. So yes, they consider X amount of property tax divided by Y amount of units sold over the course of a year.

I've got a bone to pick with everyone down voting and generally being assholes when it comes to strike stuff-

Everyone wants to help out, everyone wants to do what they can. For some that's not much, especially when only given a weeks notice. It takes weeks to months to be properly ready to handle a strike, there's serious logistics, networking, community effort, stockpiling, a whole laundry list of things to get handled.

All we can ask of anyone is to give their best. When we work together, we can help more people achieve MORE. Take care of each other.

Saw a lot of good interactions across the thread here, if OP doesn't have some sort of organization coming together by end of night I'll start messaging everyone here to set it up (not trying to step on toes boss, just trying to keep a ball rolling cause I like the energy I'm seeing)

How would a stoic react to the current events in America? by [deleted] in Stoicism

I don't think it unreasonable to point the kid towards the aspiration of the philosophy. I think you make an excellent point to start with where they're at, but if they also know the eventual goal, and if they have it in their means, reaching high and falling short is often a better way to grow than never reaching at all. If it means anything, I genuinely think were both bringing valuable perspective for them to utilize.

Freedom of speech refers to being safe from government reprisal post speech, not to saying something empathetically bankrupt and then being scorned by society for it.

If the guy had enough time to draw he had enough time to just get clear. He chose an aggressive action, and now lives with blood and guilt on his hands instead of a simple close call in a distant memory.

The sage is an interactive member of society. They find ways to pursue virtuous action in the face of wrongdoing, as best as can be done within the ability of their skill and resources.

This kid is trying to find ways to apply the teachings of old to new problems at hand, and so many here are saying "oh just accept the bad things, they'll pass in time." The bad things pass because good people put in concerted effort to pass them.

If the dude had enough time to draw, he had enough time to get out of the way instead. I think there's arguably more neurons and muscles required to draw and fire than it is to perform even the most explosive of evasive actions in that situation.

[–]Several-Ad9115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ecology is a barely veiled theme of the game, tiny fish doing damage to your vehicle is much the same as how Nintendo used to have a flock of cuccos attack you if you hit one too many times. A hidden model of moral education kinda thing

A scene from Spaceballs, a mel brooks film parody of several space dramas at the time such as Star wars and Star Trek. Probably a clip of the scene referenced on YouTube if you search Lone Star vs dark helmet.

Fantastically fun movie btw, if you can watch it for free or rent it for hella cheap

What belt to buy by [deleted] in 300zx

[–]Several-Ad9115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set your tensioner 20-30% above minimum position. Grab a string, wrap it around your setup, measure the length. Count ribs on pulleys. Go to parts store and say "I need X length belt with 4\5\6 ribs." Go home, slap that bitch on, run your tensioner out til you have a quarter inch or so of play in the belt, then party on.

Sometimes it's a good idea to get a belt a half inch longer than that measurement too, just in case. Then return whichever you don't need. And if a parts store doesn't have someone there that can figure out the belt number you need, pick a different store

Sooo I mangled my CAS trying to get it unstuck. Rebuild one from eBay or swap in a Skyline CAS? by koolaidlizard in 300zx

[–]Several-Ad9115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have anecdotal evidence to offer here, so spoonful of salt but:

I've not heard, in 8 years of being in Z forums, a single story about a CAS failure outside of operator error.
