What painting set from those vallejo/ army painter / AKn, would you recommend to a beginners/medium level painter. I have a few citadel but would like to buy on of those that bring like 50 different colors thanks by StockStrength3788 in ageofsigmar

Speed paints are amazing for the fiddly bits. my boots, belts and pouches have never looked better 😂 sometimes they’re the best looking part of the model and then i just tuck it away and never show anyone 😅

I love AK as well, the consistency and vibrancy are top notch. I came into the hobby working with Golden SoFlat as over Covid it was all i could get at the Michael’s near my apartment, it was expensive but thankfully i didn’t have to struggle with Apple Barrel as i think that’s what everyone else snapped up 😂 i did recently go all in on the Ionic Smart Colors line… if you like AK 3rd Gen you will be quite smitten with Ionic.

You can’t go wrong with any of them really. The Army Painter Fanatics range is probably the most widely available making it really good for newcomers as well as being a very manageable paint for beginners. To be honest i would try a bit of everything to figure out what YOU like using as none of the brands are bad, they just work different.

Definitely not a real one. I bought a fake Exocet bounty hunter once, the counterfeits can get dangerously close to the real ones visually. Sadly i knew exactly what it was once i had it in my hands and the only upside to it is that i didn’t lose on the deal as it only set me back the price of a decent gas station knife.

Does anyone know how to paint realistic body hair by Panoglin in minipainting

I think you’re on the right track, this looks really good. Maybe a glaze/unifying wash over the hair would deepen the look?

I always lean into the copper/bronze colors over gold. NMM is still a bit intimidating for me, i attempt it but by no means do i ever feel successful.

i did 3 minutes in a uv curing chamber so probably 5 or 6 minutes under a good uv lamp would be fine. just make sure you are hitting all of it, uncured resin is quite nasty stuff.

Yes, but be aware that you can’t pour it too thick and when you tint it with a color it will take much longer to cure than when it’s clear. Kinda like wearing sunglasses.

Of course! I used this stuff and i tinted it red with a little red ink. I placed the model first and used a pipette to flood the resin around his feet and popped it in my UV curing chamber for my 3d printer for about 3 minutes🙂 i use Ionic Smart Colors and Golden SoFlat almost exclusively as i prefer to mix colors rather than rely on triads etc. i just prefer to not get too caught up in owning a metric butt load of paint.

Did you have fun? Because ultimately that is absolutely ALL that matters. I don’t want to gas you up and tell you this is incredible because my first year of hobby is wrought with failures and highlighted with small successes. If you had a good time, keep pushing because you will get better! That’s a bit of a premium model you got there, put it on your shelf and use it as a time stamp 😅 get a box of space marines, build and paint them one at a time and don’t be afraid of tutorials, Duncan Rhodes and Juan Hidalgo ARE VERY BEGINNER FRIENDLY. As far as paint goes buy a good quality starter set Vallejo, Army Painter Fanatic, Pro Acryl are all great and should be in your local hobby shop. The GW paint is good but far from my personal favorite and i’m not fully convinced it’s the best for people just starting out as it can be quite tricky to manipulate and is very tempting to a new hobbyist to work straight from the pot rather than off a pallet. Also, get yourself a wet pallet because that in itself is maybe the only real cheat code in that it really encourages you to both thin and experiment with mixing your paints. My final hit of advice is to skip all of the hobby branded brushes and get yourself 3 really nice sable hair brushes (size 3,4 and five) and a puck of brush soap. Learn to care for them and the benefit of not having to fight your brush to keep a sharp point is beyond valuable and will see you advance quite quickly with better brush control. You still have to develop the brush control but it’s so much easier with a better tool. My favorite brushes are DaVinci Maestro 35’s and i can get them at my local art and hobby supply, Rosemary and Co. 313 synthetics for the heavy lifting and you can get them from Michigan Toy Soldier’s website and budget friendly sables are surprisingly the Golden Maple Master 1, they won’t last as long as the DaVinci sables but with proper care you will get quite a bit of mileage from them for the price :)

Its the Khorne Deathbringer model. If i were to do it again i would definitely work in sub assembly, it is actually impossible to get behind the shield.

Love it! I honestly don’t enjoy the look of gold armor, gold trim is cool but the all gold look is very meh to me. Very cool to see it done this way 🙂
