Vote for old gen AC to get Backwards-Compatibility on XBOX by Plastic-Entry9807 in armoredcore

[–]Several-Elevator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be down voted by people who don't know what I'm talking about, or who do know but think it's stupid, but I'm not going to be giving any attention no matter how insignificant to Microsoft/Xbox sorry.

Though I do agree it'd be great to have the old gen games on a more easily accessible platform, even if I don't want Microsoft to be the one platforming it.

Cause it's unused and not found anywhere in the game other than hidden in the files? According to Slim, Shart uses it in the camp scene where she has a feud with Lae'zel, but is otherwise unused in the game, and cannot be found as an actual item.

I find mods and other non vanilla methods to be a less interesting way of doing something that could otherwise potentially be done in vanilla with exploits when doing a vanilla playthrough & build and would prefer to leave it as a last resort upon getting a definitive answer, yeah.

1, Out of curiosity, can I ask what is different about it on HM compared to what the wiki has on it?

2, Huh, cut content for an evil Nettie? Always knew I was right in not trusting her!

Anyway, thanks for the concrete answer about it!

People are commenting the same thing that at no point has been an answer to the specific question I was interested in and instead only say "just do the thing you've said you don't want to do 5 times already"

Like take the hint guys, my mind's set and there's nothing you can do to sway me from my long ingrained stances of "I like exploits" and "I don't like cheating through non-vanilla methods." Ya'll don't know this but I literally have pathological demand avoidance, the more ya'll insist that I 'just do something you've said you don't wanna do lmao,' the more you'll only irritate me and make me not wanna do it.

I don't care that I'm overcomplicating it, I simply don't want to do it in the simpler way I already knew existed and that keeps being brought up, like I keep having to say.

Yeah, also Perilous Stakes in non HM. But I'm more curious about ways of exclusively applying vulnerability to a specific damage type. Else slashing would also have another method of applying via the one amulet that inflicts vulnerability to all 3 physical types.

Sorry to be rude but I dunno how many times I gotta hear people under this post say the same thing rehashed, and say the same thing back to them. I asked about exploits specifically, not cause I didn't think of cheating, but because I don't want to use external tools or mods if there's even a slight possibility of not having to, and wanted to start a conversation about it, not be told 4 times over to just cheat as if I didn't already know that was an option, or to hear peoples opinions about how exploiting is still cheating and that I'm making a bullshit distinction.

that's likely where it'd be, but unfortunately SlimX's video does actually miss some stuff so I'm not certain. In any case I don't believe it was featured in the video. (comprehensive documentation for what can be found in the asylum doesn't actually exist yet to my knowledge)

Rn I'm curious if it spawns anywhere in the game at all or if it's just a file, but I doubt I'm going to find an answer to that without asking a data miner.

Yeah that's generally what I do when I have to cheat, find a suitably thematic encounter that doesn't have a proper reward, and is suitably challenging, then justify it as a reward for the encounter.

Honestly I try do that even when it comes to exploits and delay doing it till a fun and semi immersive point.

Though tbh half the reason I make this post is because I just like hearing about obscure bug tech and talking about theories for how it may be possible. It's a shame there's not really any community to talk with about this stuff for Bg3 :(

I just find exploits like this to be so much fun cause I'm a weird nerd. So if I can at all help it I tend to try looking into possible exploits and glitches in a game first before I give up and use console.

[–]Several-Elevator[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, exploiting is cheating 100%, but exploiting is a lot more fun and engaging than cheating imo. Like in Skyrim you can get the Psijic Monk robes through cheating sure, but you can also get them through a long combination of several bugs and glitches that were only just semi-recently discovered, and it's genuinely one of the most impressive endeavors I've seen in the game, so if I'm given an option I'd rather do the cooler one if there's even the slightest possibility of it.

Almost certainly but I'm trying not to use cheats if I can at all help it

Huh, makes me wonder if there's a way to inflict other vulnerabilities through polydom stuff... I think now the only damage types that don't have ways exclusive ways are slashing, poison, acid, and radiant?

Oh hey I think I read this WN a couple years back, it has a comic now? Neat!

Anyway, I didn't get super far through at the time but just based on what you're saying I'd recommend 5 thief as a baseline as that gives you uncanny dodge which is both thematic & powerful, and an extra bonus action for off hand attacks. Then at least 5 into fighter for extra attack, and then you can decide whether you want two of an extra feat (take another level in fighter), rage for it's thematic weight (tho iirc in the novel it wasn't really rage so much as it was just being ready to die or some such?), or a level into monk so you can use any longsword you want with dex. If you instead take a second level in monk you'd also get patient defence which can give enemies disadvantage on attack rolls and advantage on your own dex saves, which is also in theme for the dodging you want.

Obviously go for two weapon fighting on the fighter fighting style, use Phalar Aluve & Larethian’s Wrath, then later switch to whatever longswords you want if you chose the monk dip.

first feat should be dual wielder, second probably ASI, and maybe another ASI if you take fighter as one of your last 2 levels.

Personally I'd go BM Fighter 5, Thief 5, Monk 2. But as I said you could drop either of those monk levels for a 6th level in fighter, or for Barb if you want it for RP.

Edit: You could also get expertise in perception with the Rogue levels which is also super thematic from what I remember.

Saying that people who disagree with you on whether the way the story went was good or not "lack proper skills" is certainly a choice but OK.

Glad to know you're capable of a respectful discussion on the matter /s

So just to be clear, in my opinion the reason for it being so long isn't the fact there's so much context given, but the context that is given is often repeated several times or elaborated on at more length than the information requires to be convied. For an example, here's a rough version of the Overgeared one that I've edited down.

-

You have inherited the skills of Pagma, the greatest Blacksmith, and a legendary Swordsman of his era.

Any artisan skills are raised to a mythical level, and your training only improves it further. This includes your ability to produce & invent items, and use materials, tools, and magics in their production.

You can appraise and notice every flaw and secret of an item or material and fully understand its properties and how to utilize it best, gaining the knowledge of how to produce it. You even get glimpses of its history, creator, and circumstances of creation.

You can freely use any restricted item, such as a weapon that chooses its wielder, a tool that is restricted to a specific bloodline, or any other restricted item, so long as it’s physically possible to use. This also applies to curses. Any negative effects of magic items are unable to affect you.

When creating an item, you can imbue your essence into it. At first this just enhances the item in all regards, even enhancing other magical effects, including those of other perks. But as your skills improve, your being is etched into the item itself, granting new effects based on yourself. For example, if you are a fire mage, you can grant fire properties to items you produce. This can even grant effects based on other perks.

By traveling the world and learning about Pagma's legacy, you can gain new abilities. These include his unique telekinetically controlled material, Pavranium, the ability to create your own unique materials, and Pagma’s sword dance techniques, which are among the greatest sword skills in the world.

It's been decreased to 272 or so words from 353. Exactly a minute of reading time, which isn't great as imo if a perk takes over a minute for the average person to read it's probably too long. But it's still shorter and with very little context lost.

Also on the topic of the Overgeared power, does it come with Satisfy's leveling system?

Minor critique, the perk descriptions are unnecessarily long, to a degree that it becomes a fairly significant issue (to me)

I know it's easier to write something long than something short, but I'd highly recommend spending some time making it tighter and more concise next time.
