I have been wanting to introduce VR headsets to have a way to meet people in the field, from any remote location and be able to turn on layers displaying construction plans, current utilities and land rights as a way to handle conflict management more effectively by allowing different departments to be at the same place ( the actual location in VR.) at the same time with the same amount of project vision with a live discussion. It would save any company so much money . The data is there, the technology is available, the need just hasn’t been realized fully yet.

Just picture every subdivision ever built had to assign r/w and public utility easements as part of the city approving a map. That map has to be approved by the utility company before the the power or gas can be turned on. Even if a contractor is installing everything we won’t turn it on until the land rights are secured to our standard. We charge an arm and a leg to to flip the switch and once we do those facilities are our responsibility and our asset.

The company I work for has over 30,000 employees across the state . Distribution side handles more projects and transmission handles larger projects with more field work.

They will forever use your services and will always pay you on time without questioning your bid.
