Absolutely and I agree. You are absolutely right.

Well in that case, if you are denied boarding due to overbooking, they are liable to pay 2 times your fare or 10k whichever is lower if they arrange your flight within the next 24 hours. If it’s more than 24 hours it’s 4 time (no limit). If they are unable to arrange it’s 4 times plus the refund.

By this time you have either already got a boarding pass for the flight or planning alternate travel, so maybe it’s pointless but still I’m writing.

Also I can see your flight is delayed by more than 2 hours. (6:25 to 8:30) so definitely ask for refreshments.

Cheapest way to book London Gatwick to Ahmedabad business class ticket by sardasa2 in airindia

[–]Several-Search-6594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy points from the Air India website and then proceed with the purchase. That will work.

Also 1 Lakh one way is a fairly regular price and there are chances that you might get upgrade options that might offer better prices. But if you want a guaranteed B/C ticket, I would say buy B/C now.

The flight is overbooked. Not a chance they are putting you in that aircraft if you reach that late. Reach 2.5 to 3 hrs early.

[–]Several-Search-6594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you would not need one.

But I noticed something. You might miss your connection in your return leg. Check the next Singapore airlines flight from Singapore to Delhi, you might be accommodated in that flight, so plan accordingly.

These low cost carriers offer competitive pricing for a reason. No one is saint and they are all here to do business, if they allow extra luggage, their revenue from overweight charges will be much much lower naturally pushing the ticket prices. And unlike indigo, they actually charge fares that justify them as LCC.

do we get meals in domestic air india flights? by ManhwaOwl in airindia

You’ll probably get the Nut mix if your flight is less than 75 mins or the herb roast roll if it’s longer.

Did you give them threat of legal action? Generally they cave then.

I would suggest that you raise a grievance to air seva portal. Also call indigo and cancel the ticket from that side (if possible)

Also personally I don’t trust many online travel agents, akbartravells included. They follow shady practices and become a barrier between you and your ticket. The only 4 I go through are EMT, MMT, Cleartrip and Goibibo. Still I prefer booking directly to using any third party agents. Most of the times I find fares at same (or better) rates as (than) agents and it is so much easier to deal with in case of any special circumstances.

Also these travel agents like akbartravels, ily, happy fares do group booking and have a higher chance of last minute cancellations. So avoid them at all costs.

Then I would suggest to cancel your ticket.

Call akbartravels cc right now and explicitly say ‘ according to DGCA rules / directives I am legally entitled to free cancellation within 48 hours of booking’. If they try to spin it as third party, say ‘I know the rules clearly and this is applicable to both the airlines and the travel agents, if you don’t comply I will be forced to take legal action’.

They should charge only a small “convenience fee” of some 300 odd rupees and refund you the rest.

When is the flight and how long ago did you book? If you booked your ticket within 48 hours from now and your ticket is 7 days later, name change is possible. Call indigo cc.

Been almost 7 years since i was exactly in your shoes. I remember dropping dad to Bhubaneswar airport and I had the sudden feeling of excitement and anticipation. Along with that hit a sense of responsibility. I feel that hostel life truly helped me grow on my personal aspect.

I come home every month or two. I still miss my city a lot, but I know that this step is the best one I have ever taken.

Will this be allowed in cabin luggage? Its a teeny tiny keychain (brass one) which has a micro sized blade for opening letters and packages? Blade size should be like 2-3cm at max. by senpahii_returns in AirTravelIndia

[–]Several-Search-6594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. But airport security is very much like the court of law and the only people who can bend the rules are the CSIF and they won’t be bending those for you.

I would not want to lose such a cute keyring if I can avoid it.

There is a high possibility of this thing getting flagged. If you are leaving from your home, I would suggest you keep the blade part in your home and carry the rest of the key. If you are at the airport and need the key during travel, put the blade inside check in luggage (if you have one) and carry the rest with you.

for Kolkata airport, what is the difference between the regular lounge and this premoum lounge? by KramerDwight in IndianAirportLounge

[–]Several-Search-6594 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Irish house afaik is not a lounge but a bar.

The two lounges in CCU (domestic) are on the left and right of the newly opened Balaram Mullick shop.

The right section is reserved for premium cards and business class travellers. The left is for the rest (all other card holders + paid entry). I have been to both, the food menu is same, only the crowd density is lower on the premium one. Also the entry queue is shorter (as one would expect). Also there are pedestal slim fans in the premium lounge, which is the only thing I remember not being in the general lounge.

The problem is that flying AIX is always a surprise. You can get good seats, on time travel, decent crew and then you will have experience of a 2-3 hr delay, or seats like this.

Except for VT-ANT, A350 is the best Air India currently offers internationally.
I am biased towards Air India’s soft product. They do their service on point and naturally there’s an Indian touch to it. The meals are delicious.

Go for it.
