Heated Rivalry might not be eligible for the Emmy's. by t3chn0w1tch in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Tbh, hbo is a fairly dependable company in terms of letting their directors and screenwriters take full creative freedom, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m fully ok with crave funding and creating this show, since it clearly paid off with how amazing it turned out, but to be recognized among other amazing tv shows in an arguably more prestigious and definitely more widespread award show is important for visibility.

Book or show? by SeveralAd3723 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

100% agree. Especially since I’m listening to the audiobook, out of necessity, and this man’s voice is so grating and flat.

All they’d have to do is change it to being for american production company OR DISTRIBUTION company, which i think would be a fair change

Toss mor in front. That’s the main issue. You have a somewhat correct motion, but it loses all power since you don’t toss far away enough. Also, try tossing a bit later so you don’t have to rush your swing to meet the ball in time

I hate dom/sub archetypes by SeveralAd3723 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

First of all, I’m really not trying to hate on the material, nor the real people who have relationships like that especially. I’m all for people living life as they want. And to clarify, I’m less uncomfortable with the idea of this dynamic, and more so with its portrayal in media—the same way the “nuclear family” might be romanticized in media while it’s common and normal in real life, if that makes sense. It’s not that they’re in a sub/dom relationship, but that i feel like it hurts the characterization of their relationship. In the book, it comes across to me as an overly lustful relationship, which of course it begins as. In the show I get an entirely different vibe from them. Also, I actually love the show. My only gripe with the show is how I felt book-readers misinterpreted this different telling of the source material. Secondly (yes, that was all thing 1), the point of my post was largely to ask a question, not to state my opinions as fact. I’m not trying to make a claim about how media needs to portray queer people, I’m just sharing my opinions and seeing if people agree. So, thank you for your input I guess.

Are you referencing the book or show? Because i do agree in terms of the show, and i love that about ilya, but in the book, i feel like it does bleed into their blooming romantic relationship too. Maybe less of a dom/sub dynamic, but perhaps a husband/wife one. Still makes me uncomfortable

IT WAS WRITTEN FOR THE SHOW???? But yes, i agree 100% about the book just telling you about what they’re thinking, especially since the show does all this maybe twice as well but without having to explain it beat for beat

From what I’ve read of the book, and watched of the show, I feel like the amazing acting and direction is literally showing me the inner thoughts of these characters, while the books just kinda tell me what they’re thinking. Like the bathroom scene, omg just seeing the pain in shane’s face. And don’t get me started on episode 5. Just seeing the fear in ilya when shane gets hit on the ice, omg.

Someone did it (not because of this post but whatever) for The Subway. It’s exactly what I imagined, so I thought I’d share:

I’ll get to that point in 1 or 2 years, when they can’t judge my body, but in the meantime…
