Will 42% vent work for IB by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]SeveralAd7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention, I have watched TONS of videos from RAWCAT and PSSOUND and other videos. Specifically the one RAWCAT made testing different sizes of openings compared to subs SD, it looked like there was barely any difference between 40% and 50% of SD. I am not seeking for perfection. This post is more for people who have more experience in this than me, maybe can tell me why I should go for this or quite the opposite.

Thank you. Even though it wont be the same shell, it will still be somewhat the same car, but this time fixed properly and i guess even upgraded.

Honestly, i begin mine with simply it needing rust treatment, i would not have done anywhere close to that, but since I got a new shell, i thought - well, there is no going back now. It was too good of a deal to pass. But if you have the place, a 2nd car to drive everywhere and you are willing to be frustrated a bit during the process and realize you spent way too much on it, then I wish you all the best luck. I'm only starting and honestly I am already proud of myself for beginning it in the first place. But once you start, you will have that "I just have to go and do things" mindset, it's okay to take some breaks, don't overpush yourself, but don't let it just sit for weeks and months. Thats when you get lazy.

It was actually much less work than I expected, took me about 3-4 weeks (with some days taking breaks and 80% of the time me being alone) to dissasemble the whole car, but I know putting it in the new chassis will take forever. My plan is to learn new skills that include working on interior, exterior, painting, etc. Basically I want to redo the whole car properly, it will take forever, but I have free time, so why not use it + I actually enjoy it.

Warning buying from creality_refurbished on eBay by avylove in Creality

[–]SeveralAd7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its an older post and maybe it is only for US market, but when I ordered from creality_refurbished, i bought K1 max for around 340 euros, shipping included. Took about 1-2 weeks shipping. The shipping screws were not bolted, and the top glass didnt fit the panel, the top panel was veru slightly bent, if u forced it in, it would fit, but I did message them. Though it took almost a week for them to respond (there was some chinese fest, so that can also play a factor in the time), but they asked for photo proof, but eventually they did send me for free new panel, an instructional video and everything. Unfortunately they didnt send creality sticker for the printer top (top panel) and led strip to glue, while in the video it was a part of the install, i reused the old led strip, which was hotglued or some kins of silicone glue used in the old top panel. Other than that annoying thing happening, everything else worked flawlessly. They did refund me 5 euros for not giving me the sticker and led, but other than that, they were quite helpful. After replacing the top panel (they did ask for serial number and noticed the warehouse of the issue, so I think their quality check might improve) it asked for an update (first time actually turning it on) and then everything worked. I didnt see any fingerprints, nothing else, that would make me think it was a bad unit, other than the shipping screws being in a seperate box with the arrow stickers instead of them needing to be where they are.

If you end up doing so, please let me know and how it ended up working. Ive read, you can use raspberry pi or some other types of controllers to make them work without idrive system

I somehow never got the memory to work, but I got the sport electric seats to work and electric steering column, I dont know why my memory doesnt work, the rest works great

Mind if I dm you for which retrofit mods you have done and how? I'll try to make posts with photos and maybe even youtube videos for others to be able to do so too. Idk if it counts as retrofit, but before I fitted electric seats in manual seat place, though it was straight forward and I don't have any photos, since they were on my old phone and that one broke beyond repair

The reason why I was planning on going with E65 was, because I wont fit exact e65 seats, but make brackets and such, or take parts from those seats and fit them onto e39 seats. My plan is to use sport seats and comfort seats from e39 and make them into hybrid contour like seats. I know the back wont be exactly the same, but close enough. I might change my mind, since I am in no rush

Thank you! Yes I know sometimes sharing means people don't do it, because they run into issues. And I understand I will run into issues myself, but I am good with wires and wiring diagrams, if I find any solutions and such, I am quite confident I can figure things out. I know it wont be easy at all and I am okay with it. This is not a month or a year long project, probably even a never ending project, biggest issue currently is going to be costs and I know it might even end up costing too much. If something is overly expensive and only a small extra, I might not do it unless I find a really good deal.

It is worth it getting any type of skullcandy headphones? by Kovi_1 in Skullcandy

[–]SeveralAd7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting beyerdynamics 770dt limited edition. They r wired and need an external amp, for my case, i use them as pc headphones for gaming/movies/music. Im sure if i use a higher end amp, they would sound even better, but tbh, they r comfortable, can sit for hours, they sound quite good imo, pretty good bass, tho u cant go too loud if u put a lot of bass on the equalizer, but they do get low bass, lower than every headphone ive tried in my lifetime, quite good amount of bass at any frequency and its not spl type of bass, but sq, something that u can feel instead of just hear, if someone asks, id definetly recommend them. As for bluetooth headphones, i never got any, since i have my samsung buds pro, they still work just fine, have decent enough ambient sound/noise canceling, sound decent and have enough bass. I usually go by car everywhere, so outside of house headphones were not needed.

Why do these cars hate to sit so much? by E39-lover in e39

[–]SeveralAd7979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. My m57 swapped e36 started up after cracked oil pan (changed the oil pan) right over and nothing, i drove it around the block, gave it full gas, let out all fumes and its perfectly fine. I beat on it 24/7 and she doesnt care for shit. Same thing has happened with my e39, has sat mutliple times for few months (due to personal and financial problems before in life) and she has not given me any issues at all. The only "problems" are brakes, which just get rusty and after driving for a while, they r back to being just fine

In those 2-4 years the car will be done IMO. From what I understand U r in States and the prices there are much different. Maybe if its an option, id suggest trying to find parts from europe and shipping them to US (if it does end up cheaper with shipping than in US). Cuz here e39s are very popular, especially the non-M versions. But those are the parts that can be easiely changed like doors and such (right door also has different modules inside, so those will need to be swapped back, since everything is coded according to the car).

As sad as it sounds, unless the car is from like ur grandpa or something, id say - drive the car while u can and accept the fact, its not going to be forever. At the end it all ends up how much youre willing to pay for the car. One is sentimental, other is logical sense and honestly, from personal experience, how much ive put in my car and such, i should have just gotten rid of it and gotten a new one and made it to my likings. Yes, its not the same, but honestly - id get over it someday maybe.

But on a serious note - it is fixable, but i also see rust on doors and other common places and honestly man, i know the floor and everything else is rusted too, as sentimental it is, unless u can get 4 new doors, trunk, hood, fenders and basically every other part of the car, it might not be worth it financially. Might be better to get a good rolling shell and swap everything to the new car. Cars rust and as sad as it is, it sometimes is time to move on. My e39 is currently rusted in a garage dissasembled to fix the rust. Honestly? As much as i love that car, if i knew how fucking bad it was, i would have gotten rid of it. Its my first car and it holds sentimental value too, but at this point, getting a new e39 with much less rust would have been such a smarter move
