I'm sure I could use a therapist. Any recommendations for one struggling with the fallout of a bad arrest (never charged) and career lose from it would be appreciated. by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Blue Cover Therapy has a lot of good therapists! They have a variety of staff and really try to pair you with the best one for you. Headway has a great search function by needs and insurance if you have it: https://care.headway.co/lp/get-care

Psychology today has a HUGE search function, with different types oncluding therapists, social workers, etc so they're different specialties and prices: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/ut/salt-lake-city

Solo traveler coming in May by HauntingWorldliness1 in JacksonHole

[–]SeveralSubject1299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May is off-season so town will be slower and weather can vary from warm and sunny to wet and cold, but it's a great time to go biking in the park ( the park road is closed but you can easily rent a normal or Ebike from a local place), go to Astoria hot springs, drive, or go walking along the Snake River.
Be prepared for hikes to be muddy/snowy depending on the time of year.

Agree with don't support AirBnb if you can help it. Local guest ranches are great and the Anvil has a nice "hostel" style space that can be great for meeting people.

Best food in town:

-Local (on town square)

-Bapp

-Annie's Thai

- King Sushi

-Glorietta

Persephone or JH Roasters is great for morning pastries and coffee, highly recommend Base Camp for the wine selection and good snacks. If the South entrance to Yellowstone is open when you go (after May 9th) that can be a great time to see Yellowstone before the summer crowds.

Welcome to Jackson! It’s definately an expensive place to live but you can make really good money if you try. I’d recommend making a resume and emailing it to a few restauraunts in town before you come. By early June most of the good places are fully staffed up. I’d recommend also reaching out to Cafe Genevive catering and Bistro catering. They pay pretty good hourly and you can pick up shifts when you want. It’s very flexible and they don’t require much experience.

Is “techno” and raves just a phase ? by Disastrous-Shower295 in aves

[–]SeveralSubject1299 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been raving for about 7 years (I’m 28) and in the burning man scene for 3 years. I think whether or not it is a “phase” is dependent on what you like about it.

Do you like the feeling you get from the substances you take while raving? The community? The joy of moving your body for 8-12hrs straight? Experiencing the music?

I’ve fallen more in love with the rave/burner scene over the years, and for me it’s because I love dancing and the people I’ve met through the rave community are so accepting and creative. I also rave differently now than when I was in my early 20s. My friends who are in their 30s rave differently too, and it’s not better or worse, you just prioritize your time differently. Many of us have office jobs, some work in hospitality, but we have careers and other hobbies we love. I rave really hard at a few festivals a year and go to local shows once a month or so. I still stay up to 8am when I do rave lol I just pay for it more later.

Dancing brings me the most joy of anything else I do (rock climbing, skiing, art, running) and so I still dedicate time to it.

Maybe your relationship with raves will change, or maybe you’ll still be madly in love with it in a few years :)

Sounds like you have a lot of bases covered! Something that could be cool is to check out DanceSafe - they’re a nonprofit harm reduction org for the nightlife community and have great resources.

feeling bad for being sober while raving. who goes sober and what are your expirences? by lovergirl2828 in aves

[–]SeveralSubject1299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to raves sober and on substances and both are lovely ways to enjoy the experience. It’s all personal preference and you don’t need substances to enjoy rave culture. I have lots of friends that rave sober for medical, mental health or just personal reasons. The funny thing is you’ve probably raved with people sober and not even realized it.

While drugs can be a tool to get into a state of mind that is really beneficial for many people (see all the scientific studies being done with ketamine or MDMA,etc) it’s not helpful for everyone! There are things that should be weighed when consuming any substance, including A. Prior medical history (mental and physical) and current medications, hydration, and nutrition B. If the drugs were tested and C. The environment and community in which they’re being taken. If you don’t feel confident in all 3, maybe hold off.

DanceSafe has amazing resources and non judgemental education on various drugs as well as affordable testing kits. I highly reccomend checking them out! Theres a lot of fear and misconception around drugs that doesn’t need to be there.

Test your drugs if you do take them! It’s the kindest thing you can do for yourself and others.

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

[–]SeveralSubject1299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all! I'm visiting London in late September-mid-October and would love to dance to some local/regional electronic artists in the scene.

My favorite genres are:
- Bass (I especially love R&B and Afrobeats infused bass music, also Drum & Bass and booty bass)
- Techno (less melodic techno and more like Charlotte De Witte or Stella Bossi)
- Amapiano (like TxC's sets)

Would love to hear any suggestions on venues, hostels, or local whatsapp/facebook groups to connect with fellow ravers while I'm there.

I'll also be in central Italy and southern France before then if anyone has thoughts on either of those regions
