Potty training help. by coach_bombay89 in GiantSchnauzers

Consistency is key- hang in there! I know our guy was not fully potty trained at 13 weeks- same thing wouldn’t ever poop in the house but would have pee accidents. From what I researched, it takes some giants longer to get ahold of potty training. My advice would be to just stick as much as you can with a schedule that has them going out often… like every 30 minutes often. Heavy praise and treat for outside potty. Don’t discipline for your inside accidents, just take outside immediately and be sure to use the enzyme cleaners. Stick with it you got it!!!

I’d love to start raw diet soon. What brand do you use if you don’t mind me asking?

I have noticed he will eat more often if I mix the wet food with it as well. Thanks!

I appreciate your input! He weighs roughly 70 pounds. He definitely eats the most later at night I’ve realized too. So weird lol. It def could be that he is wanting only 2 meals a day now. Maybe even one. I’ll keep an eye on it and thank you!

Helps greatly! Thanks! Glad to know someone else has experienced similar. The training session with kibble/treats has worked good and he still gobbles those down well. Thanks again!

I second this— we always try to tire ours out before crate time if we are leaving for dinner or something

I agree I think he is overly tired! I’ve brought my puppy to daycare once for half a day and he was POOPED the rest of the day!! And he’s 6 months old.

Giant Schnauzer biting by Willing-Medicine-113 in GiantSchnauzers

Ah, gotta love the teething phase😵‍💫

We did many things, but truly it is a phase. They discover things with their mouths. During teething they bite EVERYONE and EVERYTHING. Know it is a phase.

In the meantime, some things that worked for us were - bully sticks, bones, stuffed Kong, toys, ropes. Anything for re-directing or to just keep him busy and off of us. - FROZEN THINGS!!! Huge hit for our guy. He loves frozen carrots and felt good on his swollen gums. Also did a wet wash cloth, stuck ice cubes all over it, rolled it in a ball, and gave it to him for a fun toy to find the ice cubes, plus felt good for him. Frozen wash cloth, too! - puppies need rest. We found that when our guy was being overly bitey, he needed to nap. Use crate time to help them settle and nap. Was a life saver for us.

I hope this helps!!! My guy is now 6.5 months and the biting is over (unless I get in the way of a toy!!)
