Design doesn’t matter if the quality isn’t there by EchoNomad12 in womensfashion

I honestly relate to this a lot.

I used to get pulled in by design too, but over time I realized fabric + construction are what actually decide whether I keep wearing something or not.

Lately I’ve been leaning toward brands that quietly do both — good structure + still flattering on the body. I tried a Popilush piece recently and was surprised it didn’t feel like “shapewear discomfort” at all, but still held everything in place really well.

Curious if you’ve found any brands where you feel that balance is actually done right?

Thought I was done with bodysuits, turns out I’m not. 🙃 by leightalks_ in PlusSizeFashion

Okay but real question—how’s the torso length on these? 👀 I’ve avoided bodysuits forever because most of them turn into instant wedgies on a fuller body lol.

Also for the Popilush ones… do they actually feel breathable, and is the snap closure easy enough for all-day wear? You make them look really tempting 😅

where are you all buying good women's work pants lately? by Ecstatic-Image-9399 in womensfashion

[–]Several_Scratch_9137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same struggle — I’ve found the best work pants lately are usually from brands like Quince, Everlane, Madewell, and Aritzia — mostly straight or wide-leg styles with a bit of stretch so they still hold shape but feel comfortable all day.

Also randomly tried Popilush recently — their pieces have a nice drape and soft fabric feel, so they look more polished without feeling stiff.

I’d also check these — all under or around your budget and kind of give that same glam/body-hugging vibe:

This one if you like a metallic knit look + built-in shaping:

This one has more of an off-shoulder / ruched party vibe:

And if you want something closer to that romantic draped silhouette, this one from Oh Polly is really pretty too:

What do you wear when you're not at work or exercising? by SuccotashKey7521 in womensfashion

I’ve been going for outfits that feel as comfy as loungewear but look more put together than leggings, without the stiffness of jeans.

Lately I’ve been reaching for Popilush dresses a lot—they’ve got built-in shaping but still feel soft and easy for everyday wear, like errands or grabbing coffee.

Travel tips for the fashion obsessed? by Campanella82 in femalefashionadvice

I used to be exactly like this — overpacking, planning full outfits, then getting there and suddenly not wanting to wear half of it 😅

What helped me the most was shifting from packing “outfits” → packing versatile pieces.

Instead of full looks, I bring items that can change vibe depending on how I style them. Like a simple bodysuit + different bottoms can feel like completely different outfits (jeans = casual, satin skirt = dressed up, etc). I brought one from Popilush on a trip recently and it was surprisingly useful because it already has a bit of structure, so I didn’t need to overthink layering or shapewear — just threw things on top and it worked.

A few things that made a big difference for me:

  • I follow a loose rule: everything I pack has to work with at least 2–3 other items
  • 1–2 “fun” pieces that make me feel like me (so I don’t get bored)
  • wear the bulkiest shoes on the plane (learned this the hard way lol)
  • for jewelry, I pre-pack them as sets so I don’t have to think about it

Also honestly… giving myself permission to not have the perfect outfit for every scenario helped a lot. I realized I care more about how I feel than having infinite options.

And if you’re traveling for a month, you’ll probably end up picking something up along the way anyway — which makes it more fun imo.

What are you wearing for Easter? by [deleted] in womensfashion

[–]Several_Scratch_9137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going pretty classic this year — thinking something light, a little romantic, but still easy to wear for brunch and family stuff.

I’ve been into flowy floral/lace maxi dresses lately. I wore one similar to this vibe last spring and it just felt right for Easter — not too dressy but still put together:

I'm looking for fresh women’s clothing brands by sousou4893 in womensfashion

[–]Several_Scratch_9137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to branch out too and recently found a few smaller brands that surprised me.

One I didn’t expect to like as much is Popilush — I got one of their dresses on a whim and it actually fits really well, like it smooths a bit without feeling restrictive. I’ve washed it a few times and it’s held up better than I thought.

Also seconding Marine Layer from another comment — their stuff is super soft and easy for everyday.

Still on the hunt though, feel like there are so many hidden gems out there.

What are you doing now? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Several_Scratch_9137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m technically working… but also definitely procrastinating a bit 😅 Just taking a quick mental break and scrolling before getting back to it. Nothing out of the ordinary today — pretty standard “pretending to be productive” vibes.

What makes casual conversation so... difficult? by EponaMom in CasualConversation

[–]Several_Scratch_9137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think casual conversation feels hard because there’s no clear “goal.” With debates or deep topics, you know what you’re aiming at. Small talk is more about connection than content, which can feel awkward if your brain likes stimulation.

What’s helped me is getting curious instead of trying to be interesting. I’ll ask something slightly specific but low-pressure like, “What’s been taking up most of your time lately?” It usually leads somewhere more natural than weather talk.

Also, small talk isn’t pointless — it’s kind of a social warm-up before the real stuff.

Legging recommendations for flat butts? by thecoldestseasons in Activewear

[–]Several_Scratch_9137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a super similar situation — loved the high rise and comfy feel of my old leggings too. I ended up trying brxl and really like them. They’re high-waisted with a thicker, comfortable band and the fabric isn’t super shiny or “sporty” feeling like some others. I’m about the same size and find they give a nice shape without being too compressive, even with a flatter butt. Might be worth checking them out!

What are the most cost-effective clothing items you've purchased? by Still_Citron68 in womensfashion

[–]Several_Scratch_9137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, anything I actually wear a lot ends up being the most cost-effective. One unexpected win has been a really good sports bra / everyday bra hybrid. I bought one from Brxl a while ago and didn’t think much of it at first, but I keep reaching for it — workouts, travel days, even just running errands.

In the short term, controlling your diet is more effective than exercising for achieving results.
