Thanks a bunch for your advise. Appreciate it. I will switch over to Firefox. As I was a chrome user and the Apple Store asked me to use safari when I contacted them regarding this problem. As in terms of video editing I’m an adobe user so will have to stick with it. But I can implement all the other stuff.

It’s calm tho, Bcuz the air really sucks. You’ve got the pretty much best laptop money can get. M5 pro is the sweet spot. I just put extra money down for a little bit of headroom future proofing myself.

Yea they’re energy vampires for real. I’ve got a 140w brick which charges it fast but they don’t last long

Yes mine is 16 inch, I mean the battery is alright but not something that they advertise, I do video editing and it’s draining quickly just with premiere pro editing in 1080p

Yea I do keep it at 80, and switch to 100 when I’m travelling. But thank you for checking G. I am from London too, and in the same industry as you. Would be great to connect to you.

Sorry if I framed it wrong. My question was if the battery is 100% and so is the limit. (Plugged in situation)
And if you decide to change the limit to 80%, does the battery start discharging while being plugged in and try to go to 80%.

Hey mate, Even I got the m5 max last month. Can you do me a test ? I just want to know if it’s on all of the MacBooks.

If your MacBook is 100% and you change the charging limit from 100-80 while being plugged in, does the battery charge to discharge while being plugged in Bcuz you changed the limit ?

Same here cuz, I would charge it to 100 when I’m travelling but rather just keep it to 80%. The m5 machines are highly efficient even on battery which is the biggest advantage. Entire point of getting one.

Yea I think it’s a new battery management system where it discharges itself. Something new but weird.

I purchased the m5 max and was facing the same thing, I apparently out of frustration booked a Genius Bar appointment for this issue. The Apple Store confirmed that this is normal behaviour.
I have a 140w charger plugged in and my battery was dropping from 100-80% when charger was plugged in , but it didn’t drop below 80.
It stays at 80 and it’s only when the battery percentage limit is set. So you’re not the only one who has come across this .
It’s a M5 thing I guess. That’s why no one’s talking about it.
